Hi guys..
I have just bought a cadence 400w monoblock amp to power 2x 12" clarion subwoofers..
earth is ok
power is ok
remote is ok
sub speaker cables are ok
rca's are ok
my problem is, if I have the gains set to 0 the amp powers on. The moment I either turn the gain up a bit, or turn the stereo up, I get maybe 1 beat from the woofers, then the amp shuts down, it doesnt go into protect mode.
I *had* the earth using a bolt for the middle seat, however i have also tried a bolt in where the top of the middle seat clips into, also tried the boot catch bolt. im unsure if the earth is the problem.
I've researched the ohmages and they check out fine. I also made sure the back of the woofer, to the box, to the amp positives and negatives are fine.
Any ideas?
fuse...on amp
wires come off speaker inside box (seen it on my one)
to check ground use multimeter on ohms setting at the amp end (disconnect earth cable from amp)
and go from there to another bolt nearby it should read like 0 ohms-ish
Just checked the fuses on the amp, they are fine..
I shall check the ohms setting on the ground..
Hey Trent,
Are your subs 4ohm or 2ohm ?
Is the amp 2ohm or 4ohm ?
By any chance would this be a Cadence XA400.1
Cheers

gonna take a wild guess though, and guess people have spoken to you though.
has this amp ever worked?
Sub blown?
looks like a shortout but not going in protect makes it look faulty
have a close look at the large gold fuse in the 12+ v line, something similar happened to me when the cap on one end came loose, it rooted an amp too. Worth checking out anyway
My system did the exact same thing as yours and it was the earth. Just give it a lil more of a tighten haha :P Just for checks.
Edit: and make sure it's direct metal on metal, like a lil bit of paint or something rub it back to metal on the point.
