    Default Slim line Subs

    Hello all

i have a 12 in pioneer slim line sub. i have been reading most people seem to think these do not sound to good.

im just wondering if this is true who has one.

i was going to buy a box off ebay the seam cheap $80 cheaper than you could make it for

i was going put this in my ute but if there that bad i might have to make a box for my tub and put a normal one in

thanks intersed to know what you all think

im also planing to keep my stock blaupunkt speakers in the door and build a box to put alpine type r speakers behind the seats.

the stock speakers would sound better if they were amped can u amp them?

    thanks heaps for your time

    Cheers

    1. A pre-fab box will be crap, especially a cheap pre-fab box. And I highly doubt the $80 cheaper than you could make it for comment, because I can make a good box from 16mm MDF for about $40.

    2. If you amp the stock speakers they will likely blow in short order.

    3. Why would you leave the stock speakers in the doors and muffle the better speakers by having them behind the seats?

    4. Generally speaking, a non-slim sub will sound better. That of course depends on the sub and the box.

my mate has a vu ute with a pioneer 10" sub just slipped down behind his seat. sounds awesome in my opinion id go it. just remember if youve only got a ute the cabin is tiny so you dont need all that much power, i only have an 8inch 300watt slimline and shakes the shit out of my car. if i was you id really suggest getting an aftermarket headunit and door speakers to go with it otherwise it would sound like crap. just my 2cents

People are stuck in the dark ages when it comes to slim line subs. Granted not that long ago they weren't much more then a niche product. They have made decent head way and I think if you use them for what their designed for (utes etc.) their brilliant. Sold a few and my customers all love them (Pioneer 12 inch slim in box)

i have booked my stero in with asr audio im getting the head unit done

the type r speakers will not be behind the seats i am going in make a box up

that will make them sit between the seat and the little quater window behind the seat so i dont think they will be to muffled. i was going to use these for my rear channels. i have been told by many people use good splits for rear channels

the blaupunkt speakers sound very good stock speakers. i really want to keep the car looking as stock as possible thats the look i like.

    thanks for your time

actually 25mm would b better, (thicker the better really) but in ur case u should b fine with 16mm but if u can go thicker with out taking any more room than u need and ur not worried about weight then go 4 it.

just make sure the box is with in the subs volume specs 2 get the best out of them.

Get some decent splits (won't say a brand every one hears differently). Any decent audio shop will be able to do it without modification.
