    Default Sub and Amp Help

hey there, I don't really know much about car audio so go easy on me haha

    I've recently bought a Kenwood KAC-M845 amp, and a Pioneer TS-W302R 12" sub.

I've read that the sub's peak power is 800 watts, and its RMS is 150, at 4 ohms. and the amp is 180watts when bridged at 4 ohms. I've read up on other threads but still dont really understand..

I'd just like to know if this would work? Or if there is a risk of damaging either one of them.

here are some links if I've made no sense at all, ha. thanks

The amp you have shown above has 4 channels and can be bridged to have 2, so it's not suited to what your doing.

There are 4 things you can do:
    - purchase a mono or 2 channel amp
    - run two of those subs instead of one (the amp makes enough power)
    - use that sub and amp then use the additional channels to power your front speakers
    - purchase a dual 4 ohm sub (not recommended)

Edit: you can run the setup as you described but you won't be using half of your amp. An amp rated to 180wrms and sub to 150wrms is a good match IMO. Please don't turn the gain up to full or turn bass boost/loud etc on or you may damage it. But that is the case regardless

thanks for that, yeah I'm looking at buying some decent speakers for the front and hooking them up as well.

so it would work if i bridged two channels and hooked that to the sub, and then one channel each for the two front speakers?

Spot on then. You can even hook the sub up first and do the speakers when you get them.

Set low pass filter on the sub at 80hz, bass boost off and slowly increase gain til your happy. (don't go past 3/4)

Do you have the sub boxed?

Look for some components rated to about 50wrms as a good match to your amp
