so i installed my eew eonon head unit and it would mute the speakers at volume 30+ and then smoke came out and blew the fuse on head unit, i think wen i had old unit installed jb hi fi put the speakers connected to the factory head unit also connected it to the amp, would this make it light up??, i havnt had a chance to see where it was burning from, il mess around with it 2morro, what do you guys rekon?? had anyy issues like this b4? i didnt realize it would be connected to teh factory wiring aswell.. i connected teh speakers coz the iso connected strait in, im gonna test with a new fuse if i can find one and imma just snip the speaker wires so there not connected and il test it, no smoke or burning wen the head unit is out
im sure if it had something to do with the power wires it would have caught fire as soon as it gets connected or turned on, this only happened wen volumed went past 30
thanks for the replies.... -.-
umm, anyway i got my new fuse and i connected it up and before i even turned the ignition on, the head unit started smoking from inside at the back where the wiring goes, im guessing il have to send back to Eonon coz by the looks of it, i think its faulty
Probably best to pay a pro to install it when you get the smoke put back in the head unit.
Plus 30 mite be too much for the headunit? Make sure all unneeded wires are taped up properly mate...just cause it's not connected doesn't mean you can have them sitting behind ya unit...that mite cause some stuff to go bad :/
na its all connected, i went to shop and they told me to send the head unit back
The name sounds cheap and nasty, how come u went with that brand?

+1, I would not bother screwing around with a head unit like that mate, its more trouble than its worth. For a few hundred dollars you can get a second hand single din scree/dvd h/u that would be a better bet, or save up and get yourself a decent double din h/u

Fair enough mate - its your call. If you ever are looking for any tuning capabilities though, it won't be found in your headunit.

What can cause a headunit to smoke? My first thoughts were overloading...as I don't have much experience in this I thought trying to get to much outta a not so good headunit will cause problems...but what could be some actual reasons if anyone knows?
