Pioneer AVIC-F900BT DVD player cutting out? HELP...

Hi guys. Ive just picked up my VY SS. The previous owner has installed a Pioneer AVIC - F900BT but it keeps cutting out every 3-5 minutes. Have you guys any ideas?

Have you checked fuses? Have you checked wiring for obvious fraying or shorting out?

Is it overheating and shutting down to prevent damage?

im yet to get time to take it apart, but it seems to be more likely to be the the overheating.. anythingi can do to fix this?

What do you mean by "cutting out"? The sound stopping but the unit keeps working? A DVD playing cuts out but the unit stays on? The entire unit loses power? ORRRRR the unit is rebooting itself?

The whole system turns off.. and then turns back on straight away...

Most likely, firmware problem.

Less likely, wiring issue.

Won't be heat.

Firmware problem? sorry, i know nothing about audio..

Those units are basically a computer in a head unit. They're running Windows CE in the background. Sometimes the software stuffs up, just like Windows on your computer, and it needs to be reinstalled via the SD card slot on the front. Generally, only Pioneer or authorised service agents can perform that firmware reinstallation.
