Hey, I currently have some crappy pioneer headunit in my car that came with it when I bought it, I want to buy an xtrons 709 i think it is to play dvds and the like... Anyway when i unplug my current headunit there is a bunch of cables all hooked up to one connector that goes into the pioneer.. will this same plug fit into the xtrons or will there be lots of screwing around.
Also there is like a cradle riveted into the area to hold the headunit would i need to take this out and put new one in?
You will most likely have to change the cradle.
Units are plug and play into the factory looms with adapters. Depending how the current one is wired it could or could not be the case for you. The wiring colours on aftermarket units are generally universal. Or with a multimeter its not hard to work out what's what.
Hope this helps
different plugs for different headunits usually, and going up to a DVD player has a plug with a few extra wires.
What is xtrons? Sounds high quality compared to Pioneer
But as said, you will need to rewire. Even if the Pioneer is connected via a Pioneer -> Holden adapter (APP8PIO), you will not get a xtrons -> Holden adapter. You would need the Holden adapter with bare wires (AP1784H) and then connect that to the supplied xtrons loom and then it would be plug & play (minus the handbrake wire).
