    Default SV6 audio upgrade questions

Hi all, i am new to this forum so please dont be too harsh on me!

I am thinking of putting a full Alpine Type R system with one 12 inch sub in the boot, but have a few questions for all the audio freaks out there.
    Heres my plan:

In the front doors: SPR-50C 5 1/4" Component 2-Way Speaker (with the tweeter components in the dash)

    Rear doors: SPR-50 5-1/4" Coaxial 2-Way Speaker

    Boot: SWR-1243D 12" Subwoofer

Ok, it seems to me that the speakers are 5 1/4" but will 6.5" fit onto the existing mounts? If so i'll opt for the larger 6.5" speaker.

And Will the tweeters be a dog to fit or is it a matter of screwing them into a the same position where the original dash tweeters are?

Anyway what do you all recon of the speaker setup?

    Hi mate,
The 6.5" speakers do fit so defs use them over the 5-1/4", the Typre-R subwoofer is a great sub good bang for your $ but make sure its vented (i think thats what they call it) means there is a hole for the air to flow from so the bass is louder and hits harder basically. The tweeters should just sit in the same place as the factory tweeter, there will be a screw holding the factory one but the alpine tweeters dont have a mount to sit in so i just wrapped thick double sidded tap around the edge of mine and stuck it in there and it was all sweet.
Overall the setup sounds sweet as long as there is a amp in there somewhere to power it all

Oh nice, I was hoping they would fit! Ok, will remember that when buying a sub box. So the tweeters will fit and no holes cut in the dash? (ive seen some dodgey work :/ ). Mm i dunno what to do about amp. i know you need a lin out converter, then an amp.. but i recon ill leave it to the shop to work out when i go to get it all installed.

    thanks for commenting

Have you bought all this gear already?
Whats your main aim with the stereo?
    What amplifier(s) are you using?
How are you planning on running amplifiers with the stock headunit? Processor, LOC etc

I havent bought it yet, as i didnt know whether 6.5 inch speakers would fit, but will slowly start buying everything. Main aim of sterio is quality, louder as well, but not retarded like can hear it from next suburb. Im planning to use factory hu, then run it to a loc, then to an amp (correct me if im wrong, im not sure about that part). As far as brand of amp, ill stick to alpine for the sake of keeping it all the same, but will let the shop do the calculations for which one to get. Have any suggestions on amps or loc's??

Please don't thread hi-jack. Also, learn too use the search function, there's a heap about this already.
Here's a good guide with some pictures Tweeters

The bracket that holds the tweeters is screwed to the dash very tightly. I found using a lot of downward pressure on the screw helped it to come loose. Whatever you do, do not strip the screw. You'll know which screw I'm talking about when you get to it, in a bitch of a place because of the window.
