Default Car Audio 2006 VE Omega

    Hey guys,

I'll just get it out there - i don't have much knowledge about car systems. I recently purchased a 2006 VE Omega and am looking at getting a good, clear and loud sound system. I have already replaced the factory speakers with TS-A1674S (Pioneer TS-A1674S 6" Car Speakers - RYDA Car Audio($92.85)) and TS-A1604C (Pioneer TS-A1604C 6.5" Car Speakers - RYDA Car Audio($188.85)) and audio seems more clear, however I really could use a volume boost. I haven't replaced the head unit.

My brother has got some audio gear that he has given to me - just wondering if they will be good to install in my car? I know i'll need an amp to power it - any suggestions? I got the speakers installed at JB Hi Fi...would you guys recommend somewhere else to get this gear installed?

    Alpine 6x9s - STR-69LP (Alpine SPR-69LP (spr69lp) Type-R 6" x 9" 2-way Speakers)
Subwoofer - SWR-1222D (Newcastle Pro Sound - Alpine SWR-1222D | Newcastle Pro Sound)

If they aren't good for the VE what are some recommendations?

    Thanks, appreciate any help.

Mate the pioneer stuff will work fine, are the Alpine 6x9s and subwoofer your brothers stuff that he gave you? If so depending on how loud you want to go and effort and money etc but id leave the 6x9s out because to get an amp that will run the pioneer's and alpine 6x9's and subwoofer will need to be big or you will need two of them which imcreases cost a fair bit.

The system will need an amp (either a 5 way amp like the MRX_V60 alpine amp for example or a 4 channel amp and a mono amp up to you), when they install it tell them to run NO bass through the speakers only treble and all bass through the sub (they should do this but just in case) this will reduce the distortion in the speakers and can really turn it up and keep the quality.
If you decide to install the 6x9's i think they go behind the rear passenger heads there in a panel thing but yeah same as above really good luck

    thanks for the replies,

Turns out my brother doesn't have the case/enclosure for the subwoofer and I haven't been able to find it online anywhere. Would it be worth trying to get one custom made or just buying a new one?

    thanks for the replies.
i've done some further research i'm not sure if the amp+sub will suit me as i'm mainly going to be listening to metal music in it...so i'm thinking of just getting a decent set of 6x9s.
I've had a problem with the pioneer speakers - the highest volume the speakers get are around when my volume level is on 35/60. then if i turn the volume up any more the audio seems to reach a peak and gradually go quieter. Now is this an issue with the car cd unit not being able to power the speakers completely? or would that just be the max that the speakers can output? If i just get the 6x9's with an amp, should i connect the pioneer speakers i've already got to the amp as well?
