the title says it all
Most semi-decent car audio shops would have a termlab mate.
But getting good dB's out of a commodore sedan boot is not easy work. If your first score is lower than you thought, don't be down about it, it's not easy.

yeah all i want to do is find out what my system is hitting, i know commodore's sucks arss in doof doof lol
Not just commodores, any sedan boot. What freq. is your box tuned at? Harder to get louder lower, but it sounds better for everyday music. Going for outright SPL (with the exception of 'groundpounders') you will go louder, generally speaking, with a higher tuning frequency box.

That would sound sweet with music everyday, and will no doubt make a decent burp mate. Also watch your gain, you want to keep the volume under the 'clipping line', this can harm your score. Do you know about gains and clipped signals etc?

What do you mean by 'up'? I compete in SQ not SPL though, so its not my primary knowledge, but I still know a bit. Through subs espeically it is harder to hear clipping, considering the subs only play 80hz down (or where ever your LPF is set at).
But anyway, seeing as this is for everyday use, I wouldn't set the gain too high, it will just make your amplifier very hot and cause more wear on it, compared to running a lower gain.

umm my gain is in volts. im ment to set it to match the rca voltage on the head unit and im guessing the Eonon ones are really low.
ohh i think ur talking about the low pass, the one that is between 35hz and 250hz i thought that was what frequency you want ur sub not to go pass? then i got mine on low
and the subsonic is the oposite, i noticed when i played a song and turned it up the lows would go louder and when i turned the low pass up the highs would go louder
LPF = Low Pass Filter. The frequency you set this at, the speaker(s) will play everything below the cut off. If you set it at 80hz, your subs will play from 80hz to their bottom rolloff, whatever the sub can play. Generally 100hz or 80hz is a good place to start.
Gain is the sensitivity of the signal fed into the amp, basically put. It is not volume control or anything, if you have a 1500wrms amp, if you have the gain on 1/10 or 10/10 your amp still produces 1500wrms.
I suggest you read this mate.

80hz is a decent starting point. Are your speakers all running through the headunit? A subsonic filter, is basically another LPF, that will stop the sub from playing the desired frequencies. It is my understanding that the sub can be damaged playing frequencies too much lower than the tuning of the port, so you don't 'unload' the subs.

yeah i knew that stuff ^ but my tuning is all messed up untill i find a new amp for speakers, i keep changing the gains because i havnt been able to set them with the sub running because my parents complain and stuff when i got it going
what what i can remember i think this is what i have all my gains on at the moment
from what i have noticed when i change them is, with the subsonic, i turn the frequency down, the sub plays lower at a lower volume and when i turn the frequency up the sub plays not as low at that volume so the H/U volume can go up
and the low pass is oposiite to that ^
I would turn the gain down a bit, especially for daily listening, or even when measuring your dB chances are that gain is a little high, i've yet to see anyone running that much gain in an SPL comp. You will not be able to make the system sound 'linear' through your speakers to your subwoofer when your sub is getting how much power? Say 1500wrms and your speakers are getting about 12wrms

yeah soz i added info to my other post, did u read that? also it is 1200rms, i think a year or 2 ago i did a little reading on the gains

Did you read the write up in the link I posted?
Yeah, so 1200wrms to your sub and 12wrms to your speakers. I'm not saying that you need 'matched' power throughout your system - this is not true at all. But it will be hard to achieve a nice, quality linear sounding stereo with a bias to sub power as big as yours at present.

yeah i know but i still want to feel the bass as much as i can, i dont care about not hearing the speakers wen i got it cranked, sometimes i play it low and have a nice sound from speakers and sub but that is what the bass remote is for when i use it
also i dont like screaming speakers in my ears
i got lost in that write up so imma try reading it again
No worries mate, its a great starting point for anyone in car audio.
