Hey guys,
Never really been down the path of car audio upgrades before. But i am pretty set on getting myself a decent audio system now that funds are on their way to permitting.
What ill be getting:
A double din dvd head unit (probably Pioneer or Alpine)
Alpine Type R splits in the front doors
Alpine Type R or S coaxials for the back doors
and an Alpine 2 or 4 channel amp (havent decided whether i want to amp the rear doors yet)
Just wanting to know roughly what i should be paying to have this installed so i don't get ripped off.
Thanks,
Tim
What car is it going into?
For a HU your looking at anywhere between $50-$70 I personally wouldn't pay more.
Amp best bet is going a 4 channel to run both sets off, if your supplying the wiring, fuse box etc...around $150-$200 with the speakers.
Your better off doing it yourself if you know what your doing.
Going into a VZ sv6 sedan. I wish i knew what i was doing when it comes to this stuff so i could save the 3-400 dollars on installation. But no matter how many times i think about how to do it. I just cant get my head around it all.
Yeh the only complicated part is running all the wiring under the carpet and dash where abouts you located I can probably do it for you.
Most places I have talked to charge closer to the $100 mark for a headunit, maybe more for a DVD player it it needs to have GPS or other an antennas, maybe even to run the handbrake switch.

DO you have any of the components yet? if not ring a shop get a quote on that gear plus install.
Most places will do cheaper install price if purchased thru that store.
you would be looking at about 350-400$ to install it mate, if you have the gear, but as said by crusin most places do deals.

Thanks for the advice guys. Im getting all the gear from JB HIFI just because they're probably not gonna be beaten for the price they're doing for me. But i have heard that some of their installers aren't the greatest. There are four JB's within a good distance from me and i have no feedback on any of the four places in regards to installs.
JB will also screw the installation up and burn your car to the ground.
The occasional JB will have a decent installer, but most places (at least around here) have crap installs, because the installers are just contractors (and the cheapest ones JB could find), who don't give a shit if you tarnish JBs name. Unfortunately I didn't know this when I bought my first setup from JB and got them to install it. Retard installer chopper my wiring harness instead of using an adapter or tapping it.
