hey guys
so far my system is:
Hertz Dsk 165
Hertz Dck 165
Sony WX-GT77UI
i have a sub and two amps to install (4 ch and mono) which are:
Hertz Hx 380D
Alpine PDX 4.150
Alpine PDX 1.1000
now i will be installing these into my 2002 VX 9C1 commodore and ive never installed amps before. Will my 120 amp alternator and 450 CCA battery.i also have a surge protector fitted on the electrical system. Will my alternator and battery be sufficient to run this stereo or should i A) Do "the big 3" and leave it B) get a capacitor C) upgrade the battery and alternator.if anyone has any positive input it would be much appreciated
Do the big three upgrade and go from there. Alternator shouldn't be needed. Get a optima yellow top or something similar. Capacitor is a band aid fix nothing more.

Hi mate,
Nice system you have there, would love to see some pictures.
1. Your 120amp alternator will be fine with your system, provided your other gear is 'up to scratch' (Battery, wiring)
2. Your 450CCA battery may get a little tired (what sort of battery is it? It will still do fine though, just might drain quickly when listening to the stereo when the car is not running, that's about it. If you do want a new battery, i'd look into a Deka Intimidator, they are a little better than the Optima D34 Yellowtop on paper, and do perform very well.
3. You do not need a Capacitor.
4. The 'big 3' upgrade is a fantastic addition to any audio system, especially when there is a reasonable amount of power. Do the upgrade in 4awg cable as a minimum, 0awg is great though it is overkill. Make sure all connections are solid, and your battery terminals clamp well onto the terminals. Make sure all ground connections are onto bare metal not painted metal etc.
5. Do you experience any massive voltage drop issues? My guess would be that you don't, so do the upgrade when you have sufficient time / funds and enjoy your stereo!

I can send you pics once it's all in.I'm waiting for the amps to arrive.at present the speakers and deck are and I have a cat for the steering controls.I rarely use my stereo without the engine running.I'm thinking of using welding wire or 0-4 g wire depends what I have left or can get.if I told you what I've spent you wouldn't believe me haha pretty cheap
