so has anyone used them, heard them?
im actually considering buying a 4 channel to run my speakers, i have around 50-70 bucks to spend on an amp to use for temporally,
im only after 100rms+ @ 2ohm x2 or 40 or at least 50rms @ 4ohm x4. i was looking in second hand ones and couldnt find what i was after for what i was willing to spend on it.
my old amp was only 60x4 and they sounded nice
on the head unit i cant go past volume 33/40 or the speakers start to blur up..
back to the point, i dont want any bass coming from the speakers so i dont need a good quality amp, im probs get a new one when i get tweeters anyway (when i get a job haha) , also i dont like screaming speakers so i dont really care if they dont go much louder than they do now, as long as they dont blur up when i turn the volume up, il be happy. do you guys rekon the PowerVox amp will work fine and not wreck the speakers? < there really cheap and cant really trust it without doing my research first
btw the speakers are 4 Kicker DS600
anyway i was looking at getting this one
also taht amp has a 10A fuse so i dont think it would provide 70rms x4

Powervox amps are great as door stops, wheel chocks, and bludgeoning tools for use against people who touch your car, other than that they are useless. Dodgy internal components that will likely do damage to your speakers. But if your very lucky you may even find one that won't burn your car to the ground.
Anyway that my opinion![]()

Yeah I haven't heard good things. I'd just wait and buy a decent one instead of buying a temporary amp, save yourself some money lol. Worst comes to worst you can just run your speakers off the headunit for time being.
Just as said here, very poorly constructed amps, i've only seen 1 used in a mate's car, it almost caught fire. I wouldn't go near one with a ten foot pole, considering most of the time for $60 - $70 delivered you can get a ~50wrms x 4 @4ohm brand name amp on eBay .. even an old kenwood or something is miles ahead of a powervox.

yeah
this guy wants $70 for this one, i think there cheap aswell but not as cheap as powervox
and another guy wanted $70 for a old skool alpine amp 2 channel 175rms x2 @ 2ohm
and im desperate for a speaker amp lols if what ever i buy turns out to be good or ok then i wont need a better one til way later on
I don't really understand what you said here, are you asking if the older alpine amps get hotter quicker compared to the new ones? If so, possibly compared to a newer PDX amp or something, but it's not really an issue, if the amp is installed correctly and tuned correctly it will not overheat.

if its only tempory theres no reason u couldnt use the powervox 1. specially 4 $50 and making sure ur matching up ur speakers RMS and set the gains right. if anything ur just gonna lose clearity up high but hey its only tempory right?
i say this coz i know how bad boss audio is but i have had 2 of these running in my old magna LOL 4 6 years and they never caught fire or missed a beat and till this day they still work, got them store in the cubboard still, i think its all about how u set them really every1 always tries 2 over power them and thats wen trouble starts.

I'm running powervox temporarily, no issues all good
yeah i saw some ppl with powervox in there cars ages ago and i couldnt remember who had them lols umm yeah its only temporally my speakers are 50rms each and it is 70rms and of course the gains are going to be low probably so there defs wont be any stress on the amp, im bidding on one so if i end up getting it real CHEAP il give it ago i think or il just dunno.. yet id rather get something brand new than old second hand but if its soemthing like alpine im sure it will be ok, so im still deciding
The answer you seek is right here on JC, Sony Xplod 350w AMP .
Buy that, get your front speakers going for interim, than sell the amp on. There are a lot of people out there that seem to think that Sony is the end-all of car audio, so should have no problem selling it on eBay when your finished with it.

Iv got a brand new 4 x 70 rms red amp, 50 + postage n it's urs
+1 to everything said above.
Old school Alpine/Kenwood/Phoenix Gold/PPi are fantastic cheap buys. If your current amp happily runs your setup, the Alpine amp previously listed will easily run your setup. You have to remember that a lot of the old school equipment is underrated. That means it produces more power then specified on the data sheets.
For example, I've got a Alpine MRV F407 amp (made from 2000-2002), which runs a set of 5x7"s (soon to be Crescendo Opus 1's) and a 10" sub. Rated power figures are 4x40w at 12v and 4x60w at 14.4V.
I've seen bith sheets (a birth sheet reports how much power an amp is making after being tested, much like a dyno sheet reports how much power/torque a car is making after a dyno run) of the same amp reading close to 60w per channel at 12V!!!
Plus, generally the old school amps listed above are made with better quality components, and as such produce a "better" quality sound.
You never know, you might like the Alpine amp so much you might keep it for future installs, and run a monoblock for the subs...

Just curious how you can afford car audio gear without a job? I struggle to pay bills and all that and I work.
