Hey Guys,
For the past few months I have been chasing this problem where my subs will kick in and out past a different DB's when the car is running. If the car isn't running I can crank it right up without any problems. I have replaced the AMP wiring kit from a 8gauge to a 4gauge and put in a brand new head unit. I' am now thinking it is the AMP it's self?
Any suggestions or exact answers would be great and may get you a slab.
Thanks
Black_Stig

If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
Could you please list the components of the system? Including how the subs are wired.

Kenwood KDC-MP149 Headunit
Audioline AL009 4Gauge amp wiring kit
Pioneer GM-X334 4 Channel Amp
Twin 10" US Audio Berzerk subs
Both the Subs are running off the 1 Channel via Speaker wire.

so it isnt bridged?
It is bridgeable, but no it's not currently bridged.

sorry I should have asked this first. Is the 4 channel amp just running the subs or other speakers in the car as well?
Cause if its just running the subs I'd try bridging it? Sweefu has a better understanding then me hopefully he replies in a sec lol
Nar it's just running the subs atm, will bridge it tomorrow and see how it goes with the car running once I've fixed this fuel leak LOL. Would still like to hear back from Sweefu though![]()

yeah mite concentrate on that fuel leak first mate lol, just a tad more serious then subs not playing properly..Could it possibly be faulty connections?
What is the gain set at on the amp? This probably isn't the cause of your problem, but still.. Are your subs the single 4ohm voice coil model? 30wrms to each sub, i'm surprised it even gets them moving, if the amp is working very hard (high gain) to be supplying subs with only 30wrms, could it be switch off and going into protect? How did you even fit a 4awg power / earth cable into the terminals on that amp?

LOL Will see what gain it is set at tomorrow, but I have a feeling it's turned all the way up. Yeah managed to fit a 4awg into it, wasn't easy though. But this is the thing why would it only be doing it with the car running, but runs just fine with it off?

Youll be suprised at what size wire you can get into small terminals. Even if you thin it down a bitbits still better than a thin wire the whole way.
Set the gains at half otherwise your amps likely to go into protect. Set low pass at 80hz and turn bass boost off, Run each sub off a bridged channel. Make sure the subs are in phase, particularly if they share a cavity,
Check your rcas aren't loose and that your ground is tight and on bare metal
Nar RCA'S aren't loose, ground is tight and is earthing just fine. It's being a real mind fu&k![]()

Just spoke to my younger bro who is an Avionics technician and he said it is most likely Interference with the Alternator and to get a noise filter. This should fix up the problem or try running my remote wire to a different power source.

I can't remember ever being on a plane that had sub woofers? Anyway even if you had noise interefence, noise is noise, your saying your getting none when you turn it up?
Anyway, like SFU said it's most likely your amp going into protect. Your running what i believe to be 4 ohm SVC subs off full range channels, not a good idea.
Just to throw it out there, my car i could turn it up heaps off, then when i started it and was driving or idling it would cut out. Stupidly enough all it was was the earth.
