Question Deleting the antannae mast - VY & replacing with under dash unit

Hi all. Had a new HU put in but I want to delete the antennae mast and replace with an under dash unit as everytime the unit powers up the antennae rises.

Anyone using an under dash unit? What is the reception etc like?

Has anyone fitted one somewhere else in the car with better outcomes?

    Thanks in advance.

If it was wired in correctly the antenna wouldn't rise only if you switched to radio. What brand headunit?

hey mate i deleted my ariel and smoothed the qtr panel, i now have a windscreen mounted one, its just a thin strip that sticks to the top inside of your windscreen, it was about $50 from a car audio place
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!

Alot of the new pioneer head units for one reason or another dont have whatever it is that sends the antenna up/down when tuner is selected/deselected so it's just always up all the time. Hence why I went alpine. Very frustrating.
