Hey all i bought a sound system installed for $1000 last year all kicker, with amp zx350.4 sub ( comp 150w ) and splits.
I replaced the comp sub with an alpine type s 300w. At the moment i still have the kicker comp and am going to put it in as well.
I was just wondering if its worth me getting another kicker ( i like things to be symmetrical ) so that way i have two kicker comps on the side running off the zx350.4 and the alpine running off a 300w monoblock. Or if i should get another alpine type s and run them on the sides and have the kicker comp in the centre.
Is there a big difference running two 150w subs in comparison to one 300w sub.
Any suggestions on what i should do?
Thanks, Darcy

I wouldn't run 2 different subs in the boot. I the are different power ratings they'll end up competing and it just won't work. That's what I've read anyway. Do I quick searc on running different subs I'm sure the questions has been asked.
If you run 2 subs it'll just be louder? I dunno about being louder then the type s though.
so maybe ditch the kicker and get another type s? i just wanted to use it coz i had it haha and it seemed like a waste not to use it if i could get better sound or louder out of it

Dont hold me to it but I'm pretty sure it's not good running a less powerful sub with a more powerful one. Just sell it and buy another type s man, then it would be matching anyway.
you will get 2 different sounds coming from both subs (it wont sound that good), you are better offer using just the one or get another the same, and sell the other one if you want, what monoblock is that? 300rms? @ what ohm, you might be beter off putting two comps on that or a single type s
If they are both the same impedance rating then there is no issue in running both of them. If the amp has seperate gain controls for each channel then you should be able to match the output of the subs fairly well. This is of course unless you are planning on wiring both subs together to change the impedance load, then one might perform better than the other.
Were not talking SQ competing here or anything, and to be honest in a car the size of a Commodore, and entry level sub, is an entry level sub. All it's going to do is give a small increase in output due to the increase in cone surface area. So i say just go ahead and do it.
i just had a thought, if i got a 300w monoblock amp that is capable of 2 ohm output would i be able to run the two 300w alpine type s's in parallel at 4ohm? or would this not give me 300w output? i can probably just sell the kicker and run with 2 alpine type s's instead of trying to run with 3 subs, Just thought it would look better :P

but then wouldnt both alpine subs be underpowered ? it would probably be better just to run one of them in a really nice box![]()
Sorry man you taking in rms or peak watts?
I think they would be underpowered, the type s', if you ran them off the 300watt monoblock.
yer rms, so what if i bridged the kicker zx350? ( 300w rms when bridged) and then used a monoblock on the other type s? would that sound alright?

as long as there both not in the same air space, it would be okay, also you need to set the gains so they sound the same
yer i have a kicker comp box that come with the setup then i'll make 2 custom boxes with the port holes facing up to the parcel shelf for mega bass, i think i'll get another alpine type s instead of another kicker comp, would be a fair bit better i think.

what would be louder, facing to the rear or up into the parcel shelf?

i see, and does having 2x 300w subs make much of a difference in comparison to 1x 300w sub? ( all same resistance / power )

Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
but the kicker is 150W and the alpine is 300w ( rms ) and it hits louder and harder. And yes logic would tell me better, but how much better? increase in feel of bass? increase db? like would it be 3db more or not?

Well then get the Type S. I was just going off personal experience more then anything. You would feel a bit of extra kick if it was setup properly. FYI I was going off the Kicker CompVR not the plain jane model.

ahh i see, yer nah i just had the little baby sub haha and yer the alpine's seem to go pretty good also so, i'll see what happens anyway.
Thanks for the input
