    Cadence FXA5100 5 channel 1800watt

    4x100W + 1x300W @ 4ohms

I prefer extra power and therefore lower on the volume control. It means you can get plenty of volume without pushing the pre-amp hard at all, much cleaner sound. I'd go 4x100, the Polks should have no problem with that.

The Polks are good speakers, but I think you are going to be pretty disappointed by the bass.

Getting a 5 channel leaves you the option of sticking a 10" box in the boot to give you that extra thump later if you want.

Though having a dedicated speaker amp and dedicated sub amp (whether it be class D or A/B etc)

There is nothing wrong with a 5 channel amp.

Personally I recommend the D Class amps. Small and more efficient than regular A/B amps. I bought a JL XD600/6 to run 4 full range and two subs. Very impressed.

Class D circuit speaker amps (4 channel say, for arguments sake) are relatively new and because of that, can become expensive compared to the A/B design amps, and they create a very different sound too

True. I bought mine off EBay from the US. $AUS was pretty good at the time. Still is favorable.

They produce a very different sound to a Class A/B amplifier, i'm not sure how to expand a lot more on that. I find class D speaker amps to provide a colder, more clinical sound rather than the warmer dynamic sound of an A/B amp.
Probably off topic however, it's doesn't come into most people's minds haha

Not trying to be rude, but I don't see this as a reason for 2 separate amplifiers over 1 5 channel, no amplifier should 'blow' .. 4/5/mono or otherwise
