    Default Subs not sounding right

Hey, i recently put my subs in my vt. Im running 2 x Kicker comp 10's with the kicker zx300 amp. My subs have just been sitting for about 3-4 months as ive been to lazy to put them in my car after pulling them out of my old one. When ive finally gone and done it, they just arent sounding right and i cant seem to figure it out. They seem to only pick up really LOW bass, and its really overwhelming when they do. If im listening to a song with a variety of bass notes, it will not even play some of the bass levels through the subs and then itll hit a lower bass note and be overwhelmingly loud and horrid sounding. I just cant figure it out, they were sounding perfect when i pulled them out of my old car, nothing on the amps had been changed settings wise and now i just cant get them to sound right.

The only difference between my old and new setup is i dont have an amp for speakers atm so speakers are running straight from the head deck. But other then that its all the same as my old setup, just iusnt sounding anywhere near the same.

I know different boots and stuff will cause it to sound different, but this is like the subs arent even picking up certain frequencies or something.

Does anyone have any suggestions? What could be set wrong or something?

Have a look on the amp. There should be an option for low pass, high pass and through. Make sure it's set to low pass so the sub recieves only the low signals. Also make sure your gain is set right.

Check your amp settings...just because it hasn't been used doesn't mean the settings haven't been bumped around and what not.

yeah i had a fiddle with the settings but i cant seem to dim down the problem im having. i only run my gain on about half. and even there the really low bass notes are just rediculously overwhelming. i want it to pickup the low-mid bass range, i listen to alot of metal/hardcore music, hence why i run 10s, i want them to produce you know like kicks and bass guitar etc.

what do you mean by "in phase"?
