Hi everyone, I'm currently going through the process of installing a new sound system in my VT, I already have the power and rca cables layed down nicely underneath the carpet into the boot and was going to start work on the speakers after work today but got stuck when trying to figure out how to run new wire through into the front doors.
I did some searching on here and everyone said its possible to get the new cable through the rubber thing inbetween the door but as far as I can see there's not enough room to get it past the white connector and actually into the car.
Does anyone happen to know how to get the new cables past the connector?
Thank you
What is the white connector? I’ve done it in a VY. Prick of a job but with a bit of stiff wire like a coat hanger, some lube, some swearing and some brute force it went through.
Did it in my VS, agree with Crisis63, absolute prick of a thing to do and there was plenty of swearing going on. I used a length of tie wire doubled over twice and twisted with the wire taped on at the end. I will never do it again...

I need some statesman/ calais woodgrain for drivers side panel!!
As near as I can tell there is a wire loom that comes out of that door through the rubber bit then when it reaches the side of the dash the loom goes into a plug and I've jammed my hand in behind and felt a matching opposite sex plug but the connector plug sits flush against the chassis and looks like there's no way of running and more cable through it without crushing it, I'll take some photos tomorrow if my description wasnt good enough.
I didn't bother... Had 300Wrms to my front speakers and the 30cm of stock wiring was fine, just join to it in the kick panel
Use this calculator to determine if you actually need larger wire... I put in 300W, 30cm(1ft), 20ga and I lose 4W. I'm pretty sure it's larger that 20ga anyway. 14ga loses 1W still. It's not worth the time and hassle for 3W. You wouldn't even hear 50W loss.

I seem to remember popping the rubber boot out of the panel to straighten it out a bit. Definitely put some Vaseline or some kind of lube in there as the concertina effect of the rubber boot certainly doesn’t help matters.
Damn I was hoping to avoid getting back in behind the HU again, just ran 6 RCA cables so there's bugger all room to move in there, I might try and find where the speaker cable goes behind the glovebox and join it there, seems like a bit of a shame but oh well, cheers for letting me know that a small amount of stock wiring isn't going to make much difference.
Yeah, I just connected to it in the kick panels... Make sure you get the correct wires on the left though as I accidentally cut my electric mirror wires because the colours were similar![]()
Well StoneX the same thing happened to me, turns out that there are 2 grey wires going into the front left door, one is the negative for the speaker, and as near as I can tell the other (which I cut first) does nothing so that was lucky.
