my setup:
Stereo:
Pioneer Headunit 50Wx4
Boss Amp's x 2 (400W 2Ch, 800W 4Ch)
Pioneer 12' Sub in Box
Pioneer 6x9's Rear
Pioneer 6' Front
boot / dash pic here.
jvc dvd mp3 wma giga head unit
jbl 6.5 inch splits
jbl 6by9s
kicker 12inch sub
boss audio 1600 watt 4channel amp
jbl block amp
4 guage wireing
Sony X-Plod Head unit (52 x 4) I think.
Sony 2-way 170w 6" in all 4 doors.
Phillips 480 watt amp and 12" sony sub.
I know the amp is seriously shit but it's just been in for 2 weeks while i save up for a coustic 300wrms. Coz the sub is 300 or 350 wrms.
I think i'll keep the old amp too and use it to power the speakers in the door. Then when I got more money i'll kick out those speakers and get splits.
Is it recommended to get 6x9's on the parcel shelf if you already have a thundering 12" sub? Many people say it's just a waste.
Gday
My opinion would be not to get 6x9s if you like good sound qual. get 6x9s if you like more bass, but y when you have a sub?
The sub should more than make up for the lower freq and the 6" can take care of the mid-high freq.
But seriously, its however you like it, try the setup in an audio shop when switching between 6x9s and 6"s with a sub running, let your ears decide.

umm its old, jvc head best head i ever had. clarion 6s in front doors, poineer 6x9s in teh shelf, sony dvd play and remote system, no-name screen, fm modulated for sound. 2 12sony subs with kicker amp.
yes its a mismatch but its got a great sound. put all sony gear in my camry (no subs tho) and it sounded good but not as good as my pick-and-choose-commodore!~
(forgive the dirt its been neglected for the last few months)
I spent roughly $3000 all up on my system for my VT, Alpine Throughout!
Alpine wma MP3 Head unit with adjustable face

Damn straight it's locked up! But yeah. I really don't want a great deal of people knowing what I have. It's in the car for my own and my wifes personal use. Not some other ********!
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
Dang, all that Nakamichi gear would of cost u a pretty penny.

JL 12W6V2 sub

Yeah, it left my pocket looking pretty severe for a few weeks, but in the end. It was money well spent.

2x JL Audio 12" Subs in a Ported box
amps... not sure bout yet.
Mounting the tweeters in the roof....dude, that is going to give you !_MASSIVE_! cross phasing...consider yourself warned...
I like the way I did that "massive"....note to self...use it more often.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
what is cross phasing?
Cross phasing is reference to part of your sound coming from one point of your car and another point, when they are part of the same "split" system. It can cause your left and right to start blending into each other.
Ideally, if you use splits you have the sound still coming from the same direction just with more spacial awareness.
E.G. VT Splits...woofer in the door and Tweeter in the dash.
