hi guys im just wondering if anyone has fitted a line output converter to ve's stock headunit.
I no how it plugs in but b4 i try it im just looking for any advice, pics or videos on it being done
and how do you hook up both front, rear and subs all up to it do i need 2 or just a single 4 plug one
will do
I've been toying with this for a while now and come to the conclusion that it is better to use a LC6i. This is a 6 channel converter as well as being a much better option in regards to sound.
Anyway, you are just connecting the speaker wires from the head unit directly into the loc. You can tap into the rear speaker wires for the sub.
Check this out too connecting amp to ve original radio
I would love to know how it sounds when you are done.
i just looked at the LC6i and it does look like a better option but its only a temp fix so i can have subs in my car till get all my after market
gear together. So if i plug a 2ch LOC into the rear speaker wires and switch the LOC to Lo that will do the trick? and just another quick question
with remote wire to turn the amps on and off with the car does the stock headunit have a remote wire coming out the back or do i have to
wire the amp up another way to turn on and off
If you check out the link i added it also talks about the remote wire. I believe you can tap into the rear speakers for the loc as well as still leaving the rear speakers attached. Should all be fine.
cool cheers bud thanks for the help I will let u no how I go
I fitted one two weeks ago, I took of the kick panel on the drivers side, the steering column cover an the side panel above kick panel, the collies are grey and brown for left and dark green, light green for right, be Careful as there is 2 dark green and one will cause ur car to temporarily go ape, until u disconnect it lol, all warnings n stuff. But anyways there's a plug empty just near the headunit plug and there is a good source for ignition power (REMOTE) and ground for any other mods to the dash like gauges and so fourth. any other questions pm me
Which of the wires on here is a good one to tap into for remote wire then? Would like to know this myself....

There's an empty plug as i just said which is ignition power, think it's brown with yellow
Kizza50 thanks for those pics it will help heaps what colour wire is the rear door speaker are they light green, dark green, grey and brown and are the 2 dark greens that you where talking about the same or is there a difference so i can tell wich one i need for the speakers
if i was to look at the diagram are the rear speaker A1,A5 for right rear and A4,A8 for the left rear
That would be correct. Some say it's easier to tap into the speaker wire just before it goes into the rear door at the pillar
so does that mean i only have to tap into one of the rear speaker or do i have to tap into both left and right. i got an avarage loc today
hopefully get time to stuff around next weekend and get it all in
You have to tap into both sides I believe. If I was going to do it I would tap in at the door pillars and run those wires to the boot and attach to the loc. Does the loc need a remote wire or just the speaker input? Should be pretty easy. Maybe add some pics as you do it so we can all see how it's done![]()
i got an aerpro LOC for my system recently and it just had the four speaker wires (LEFT +/- and RIGHT +/-) then the left and right rca outputs, no remote wire
Should be easy to do then.
I've made the decision to buy a 4 channel amp with speaker inputs (Kenwood KAC9405 or 8405). Apparently it also has signal sensing turn on so no remote wire required. Should make life easy but not sure on the outcome.
yeah as soon as I do it I will upload sum step by step pics showing how its done SUP3RST4R_DJ what did u do about the remote wire for the
amp
oh well cos i got all my cable cut at jaycar rather then buying a wiring kit like i should have i ran a blue wire just from the headunit accessories wire in the loom which in my vz from memory i think was a yellow wire, then just down the centre console and out to the amp which is just behind my seat. it doesnt need to be a big wire as its only carrying a small voltage/current to turn it on/off
yeah i might just tap in at the back of the stock headunit because i plan to put my alpine gear in at sum stage and i wont have to run rca's from front to back again and i got a whole roll of blue wire for the remote so i may aswell run it the length of the car so i dont have to fit that again later thanks for all the help guys and like i said i will take heaps of pics as i do it
remove panels
unplug and cut the correct wires to tap into if you look at the diagram woollie put up earlyer it will make the job easy
for the remote wire tap into the cigarettes lighter the brown is acc
make sure to get a line out converter with a earth wire so theres no interference

i ran speaker wire from the stock headunit to the rear of the car where i connected the LOC to the rca's the sound is ok no where near as good as an after market headunit but if your looking away to just connect stuff to the stock headunit it is fair easy just allow your self sum time i ended up doing it later in the day and it got dark
this is what it ended up looking like in the boot its only a temp fix till i get sum more alpine gear together but it does the just![]()
Looks good mate. Where did you have to ground the loc?
just behind the amp on the back side of the middle fold down seat there is 2 bolts up the top I just earthed it out there along with my amp
I'll be having a crack at this in the next couple of weeks. My concern is where to put the amp. I won't have a sub box or anything like that to mount it on. I was thinking of just leaving it up in the back corner of the boot just sitting there but I don't know how it will go. I didn't really want to go drilling into anything just yet, I may have to make something up for it. I was going to mount it under the parcel shelf but then it would be upside down and apparently this isn't good.
Any suggestions?
i dont see how it would be bad i had my amp upside down there in my vt and nothin ever went wrong with it plus its an easy place to put it thats outta the way
