Default 2 subs, which to buy?

Hi there i'm looking for 2 subs and at the moment i have my eye set on 2 alpine type r 12's,

Can anyone else suggest something better or equivalent or cheaper that will do the same job around 600w rms? just want to look at my options.

What are these brands like? Mtx, Kenwood, Soundstream, Pioneer, Hifonics, boss, MB Quart, Rockford?

Can anyone help me on some brands?

    Thanks

Rockford fosgate P2's would be a better option than the type R's. They have higher output and sound much better.

As i mentioned to you, the subs you will buy in this price bracket will all sound very similar. There's not enough to seperate them in terms of either quality, or output.

Go with whichever one you like the look of, specs on paper of, or what ever. It won't make a huge audible difference once installed.

Combine the budget however and just buy a single driver, and then it would be a different story.

    Hey mate,
What is your budget? Do you already have an amp to power the subs? If so, what is the brand and model number of said amp?

    i have a hifonics 1200d amp on the way from america. 1200w @ 1 ohm 700w @ 2 ohm i think.

and well budget is around $400 ( i have ebay and american websites that i can get them cheaper for )

    i can get the alpine type r's ( rrp $500 -$600 each ) for $395 inc postage

    "higher output"
    meaning what exactly?

RF P2 are rated at 400watts
Alpine Type R rated at 500watts

Good to see you bought the Option Audio amp LOCALLY as advised. Why are you even bothering asking for advice when your not going to listen anyway? Buy your sub-par alpine type-r subs and be done with it tbh.

I'm probably going to regret posting it...........But -

I know of a sale add on another forum for a pair of Peerless XLS10's. He's asking $180 each plus postage. Both new in box.

I can't link you because you have to be a member to view the FS sections. I can forward you the details though if your interested.

hahahaha im glad you went with the hifonics , now all you need to do is go to the shop and ask them to play you a variety of woofers around the wattage your amp produces and then see which woofer sounds the nicest for you (dont care what other ppl think as long as you like it) and then find a cheaper one directly from the US (if you build a box for it or you get a box at the shop) otherwise buy from the shop with the enclosure and ENJOY

Did you show him your fully sick youtube videos nic? Yeah, rip off a local who thinks the time they are investing in you will benefit their business, and them screw them over by buying internationally. And then wait until they show up all dinged from the postage, dead on arrival and have to fork out money to send them back and get them replaced. Money spent= exactly the same amount or more. Benefits lost = no local coverage, and a lot of time and f' arsing around. Worth it? Hardly. /sigh at some people.

... i'm entitled to buy what i want to, its my money and a forum is for asking questions right? the hifonics amp was cheaper than the option audio but had a higher retail than it, and i had seen about 20 vids+ running hifonics amps with alpine type r's and only 1 with an option audio ( who was about to upgrade to hifonics ) so thats why i went with hifonics, And ok sorry for wasting your time and not shopping locally. I was only asking

why is everyone hating?? a bought the amp coz it was cheaper, had larger rms output and everyone who had type r's had them?

i was hesitant to getting option audio coz of quality so i was going for a kicker, but everyone said quality of speaker matters more than quality of amp so i bought an amp that was cheaper? its a forum, to ask questions? don't go hating :/ and for everyone that was saying i'm wasting my time with two subs coz they are entry level subs, at the moment i have one 300w rms alpine type s $200 sub that i am very happy with how it performs, so i thought id upgrade to 2 of them and while im at it upgrade to something with 600w rms so to me entry level subs are perfect, so thats why im not worried about getting 2 due to poor quality and that, and im after two mainly for looks because two subs in sync looks awsum! Sorry if i'm offending everyone here, But thanks for the help and advise
