Looking at purchasing a alpine PDX 4.100 amp & alpine PDX 1.600 amp. Has anyone had any experience with these? All the write ups I read seem to be good. The shop I buy all of my audio through has these two amps ( ex display - in a glass cabinet ) for $340 each, where the RRP is $599. Any thoughts?
Their sweet amp's but pricey, too pricey for me to have ever seriously considered them. At the price he's willing to do them then though it's a pretty good deal. If i was after a pair of amps as part of a complete build, i'd probably look elsewhere for value for money.
But if you've all ready got everything else, or you've had an amp fail or something, then it's a different story, it's not like you can direct the savings elsewhere. Is that why your thinking of adding them, or are you wondering if replacing your existing amps might bring an improvement?
I'm currently using a alpine power pack which is 4X45 RMS for main speaker duties( 6.5" type X ref fronts & 6.5" type R rears) and a dodgey Jaycar mono block driving a pair of 12" RF P2's. So I'd really like to stick with alpine if I can.
Sticking with Alpine won't make bugger all difference, your speakers don't know who made the amplifier.
It would make quite a difference though compared to the current power pack you are using. Not sure about the mono block, when you say "dodgey" some of Jaycar's amps used to be pretty highly regarded. It would depend on which one you have.

It's all about the cosmetics for me, even though sound quality is just as important. I've used jaycar amps in the past and they have been fantastic, but their new ones don't seem to be in the same league.
Well i generally start to lose interest when people start talking about what something "looks" like, rather than what it "sounds" like.
heya mate im a alpine man all the way its the only brand ill put in my car , and ill tell ya tho thier pricey as far as im concernd and my bro is concernd ( hes stricly a alpine man to ) the pdx amps are DEFINATLY WORTH IT!!! hands ####in down
My Vs " Liberator 1" =)
Side note : A V8 doesn't kill, the ######## driver who cant handle one does
LOL!
Hey mate i have the pdx1.1000 and the 4.100 and they're brilliant. Easy to tune great clean power at both 2 and 4ohms. Definately recommend them if you have the cash.
And the price looks great too btw, cheaper than what i paid i think.
Then your not concerned about how it sounds. I'm a purist, and with the attention to detail that comes with experience, you don't end up with something that looks like something an 11 yr old just fed to a dog, regardless of the components used.
I could give some really good sounding components to an in experienced person, and it could wind up sounding like crap, and looking even worse. Vice versa .
You may want to re-read the post, cause I said visual appeal is EQUALLY important as sound quality. Now I've been building modified cars and boats since before you were born, so I think my "attention to detail" is fare better than what you think. The original post was to ask if anyone had or has experienced them. Not tell me that there's better or cheaper on the market.
Hey come on guys no need for domestics lol.
I've heard they are good mate and for that price, if its what you want go for it. Specially if it will help tie in the rest of your build. I do understand where HCVP is coming from but if your willing to part with the coin who cares, at the end of the day it is your car![]()
If it's equally about looks, and you like the look of them, then what does it matter what anyone else thinks?
An amps an amp. At that price there's not going to be any build quality issues, unless you can pick an audible difference amongst those in a similar price bracket, then what's the point of the thread then?
If you've been doing this since before i was born the wtf are you doing on here asking these sort of questions for?
To the op, if you like the amps, and can't find them any cheaper and are willing to buy them, then do so. If they suit your needs, then get them. Good build quality, look nice, won't offer much of a benefit to sound (other than some more power for the speakers), but if you want them then get them.
Buy the amps if you want.
Stop bickering.

No one's ragging on you about your choice of equipment, you developed an attitude halfway through your thread.
To Liberator & Non slip squid, thanks for the info. Exactly what I was after-input from someone who's uses them. Cheers giys
Who's causing trouble? I'm not the one posting complete drivel that's completely un related to the original question. Prety much like all the posts you hi jack, so go back and sit on the floor and play with your Lego like a good little boy and let the adults talk in peace.
F.u.c.k. off idiot your a waste of space.
