hey im thinking about getting a sound system in my boot for my ve commodore was thinking about 2x 12'' subs and 4 - 8 small speakers with 2 - 3 amps any recommendations on brand or anything i was thinking for the 12'' subs to be 1200W kenwood or something but open for ideas as im still saving money to buy the stuff
Not going to recommend brands but you only need 2-way splits/component speakers for the front, 2-way coaxs for the rear doors and your sub/s. If you're only buying low/mid range stuff like Kenwood, then you'll only need a 4 channel for the speakers and a mono or 2 channel for the sub/s.
Okay, pending the answers to my following questions, don't expect a response from me.
What is your budget?
What do you plan on achieving from your system?
What brands are you looking at?
Will this all be for the boot, or the entire car?
i dont really have a budget at the moment. just looking at prices of different brands and stuff and seen 12'' kenwood 1200W subs at supercheap for like 130 something each.
but what im looking at doing is just the boot at moment. then maybe doors inside car later on after i sell my vx
as for the boot i was looking at getting 2 x 12'' subs and either 4 or 8 of the normal small speakers and 2 or 3 amps to help it all out.
once i get all the pricing i need and figure out what brand i am going to use and all the other information i need im going to see how much a custom fibreglass mould for it all will cost but yeah
i just want a loud system that also looks great in the boot i also have a green light in the boot to shine on it lol
/facepalm. I'll let someone else deal with this.
Your going to do Maggo's head in on this oneI'm staying out of it also.
i dont see how you can get a budget without knowing whats out there and how much the prices range from lols
go to as many local stores as you can and get more into the idea of having subs etc etc and then once you know what sort of gear you want, come back and discuss![]()

Really, it would be a waste of money putting all that gear in the boot, you sit in the front seat, not the boot. Though its up to you, its your car. If you were putting lots of gear in the boot i'd get cheap speakers, you are never going to hear them. As for other gear, I don't want to suggest things without a budget, but here are a few general things to get you started.
Front speakers: Morel Maximo 6 (~$200) or Tempo 6 (~$300) these are great entry level component speakers, they aren't too deep so are easy to mount and are a simple 6" midwoofer and 1" tweeter. Is this the sort of thing you are looking at or would you like to spend a little more money, spend a little more time on install? Something a little more upscale like Crescendo Opus 5 or opus 9.6, these are harder to mount and cost more, they also benefit from a little more power from a higher quality amplifier, but will provide you with a much nicer sounding speaker, more midbass kick
Rear speakers / boot speakers: I would get whatever is on sale at your local wow / autobarn store. You don't listen to these speakers when you drive, you hear the front speakers. You should be getting 6" coaxials for around $50 or $60 a set, but if you're buying a few sets you should get a discount.
Amplifiers: Again these are very budget dependant. For 'bang for buck' consider brands like Option Audio and Response by Jaycar. These brands are fairly reputable and provide good wattage and quality for the money. Once again there are stores like wow and autobarn, which stock all the common brands, which aren't bad either. Some of the newer Clarion stuff is very nice, wow stocks Polk Audio too which is a plus. You can also look at something like Genesis amplifiers from the UK if you want something more high end, these are more SQ oriented amplifiers but they are very nice.
Subs: Consider perhaps, Polk DB's, cheap all rounder. Stepping up a bit, perhaps something like an Image Dynamics ID12 or JL Audio 12w7, both those are getting more expensive but are very nice woofers.
Brands to consider in my opinion would be. DLS, Image Dynamics, Focal, Alpine, Maxxonics brands (Hifonics, MB Quart), Pioneer, Vibe, Newer Clarion, Boston Acoustics
There is a few things to get you started, with a budget to work with, I could be more specific and put together a bit of a system for you when I have time.

Big step up from a ~$300 subwoofer in the ID12 to a ~$1000 subwoofer in the 12w7haha In between models that you may want to look at: Image Dynamics IDQ12, IDMAX12 and JL Audio 12w6.
Op: You're in good hands with Anthony, great bloke, he'll sort you out.
i am not putting a price on the boot i have as much as it costs i am starting to think about getting kickers maybe just going to see if i can get a price on some kicker stuff i can get the amps pretty cheap off a guy from work if i asked him but gonna look online to see if i can find pricing on subs and stuff thanks for the replies guys

You didn't get any feed back because no body cares. You didn't take any of the advice on board from those who know, so why expect them to maintain interest in the thread?
