Hey all, helping someone install a headunit in a VY or Vz sometime soon and was wondering how different it may be to a VT (which i have done before). The questions i have are.
1. Is it the same to take the headunit out, just a couthanger in the hole thingos, and it slides out, or do i have to take off the dash, etc
2. Can i just get a holden adapter thing (cant remember the name) for the headunit
3. At the moment my headunit in my VT is just basically jammed in, as it was an extremely tight fit, so no skrews would this be similar with the VY/VZ, or will i have to take the dash, etc off to screw it from the side.
Cheers
You should screw the head unit into the mounting brackets regardless.
yeah the unit just has its own tools 2 remove it just like the VT 1.
yeah u can get ISO plugs 2 fit so its plug and play
depending on wat head unit u get? depends on how it can b mounted, the craddle will need removing and if u got a single din unit u'll need a surround trim pocket that finishes it off. most of these mount 2 the unit and slide and clip in place.

Use coat hangers. Read this. It's a bitch to do, you need to make sure you feel the clips click onto the coat hanger. A lot of force will be required.
thanks mate, but i read that, and tried every thickness coat hanger i could find, bending and pushing the coat hanger in every direction, with varying amounts of force, and it still wouldn't budge. (done it in 5 seconds on my vt).
You need to feel it click onto the hanger when you insert it. Then just pull as hard and as fast as possible.
Trust me i did it all, its to late now anyway.i believe hes going to take his car to a car audio install place, and get them to take the headunit out. Thanks for the help
Park the car on a steep incline, gravity helps it slide out instead of relying on the coat hanger to catch on it.
