Ok guys been thinking about getting these as I want something that's better than stock, these are 2ohms exactly like the stock speakers. I'm not after earth shattering mind thumping music just something that i can turn it up and feel the difference in all aspects.

should there be a balance between front and rear wattage and such? As in both front and rears need to pump out the same amount of watts?
Cheers
I would also like to know what is good in this price range, btw people are going to tell you to go check out these speakers before you buy them, just a heads up mate.
Check out my VE Commodore My Omega Mods
I used these JBL's in my car. The 608c in the front and I think the 628 in the rear. Sound quality was much nicer but no real difference in volume. You will definitely need to amp them because if you don't and crank the head unit above say 25 on the volume they will start to burn the coils. I installed an amp over the weekend and they sound awesome now.
These speakers also fit perfectly into the door pod by using the metal attachment plate that comes with the speakers.
I wouldn't bother upgrading the rear door speakers tough. Not worth it.
Well there u go, thing is I don't go over 25 on the volume scale tends to distort and such. Was the amp an easy install by any chance? Also did u use dynamat at all?
Big boss: I would like to hear them in the flesh other than jb hifi I'm unsure of where else u could go to and listen to car speakers as I'm sure jb only have 4ohm speakers.
The amp took me most of the weekend to install it. Just have to fine tune everything now but the front splits sound so much better. I ended up puting a 12" sub in a sealed box in the boot as well running off the other channel of the amp. Like I said sounds great but still needs some fine tuning. I did dynamat the front and rear doors as well, not sure if this made a huge difference for sound but made the car a little quieter.
If your going to replace your speakers I would look at getting them amped and definately dynamat the doors at least because they do rattle quite badly with aftermarket speakers.
JBL's are pretty crappy quality.
For $150-$200 i would be looking at cadence speakers or entry level alpine ones.
And i agree with amplification, however if you get JBl's you wont be able to push em anyway.
Not sure with VE's but if you have to go hi-gain then you will want at least a high/low converter with a solid 4 channel amp.
But if you just want direct swaps.. go with cadence splits..
Thanks for the feedback guys. Judging from what you guys are saying I will need an amp to run the speakers properly. And if I'm gonna amp it I may as well get the better speakers while I'm at it.. something I wanted to avoid if I was able to, Im going to have to re-evaluate this. Might get the doors dyamatted and see how it sounds. Cheers guys.
