Originally I was going to buy a JVC KWAVX746 however after finding the Clarion VX401A (which is $200 cheaper and has all the same features), I think I might get that.
I just want to know a bit more about Clarion and if they are a respected brand all not. I feel that I'm just paying for the brand with the JVC one.
Cheers,
SMG
Clarion is a very reputable brand and they also make some pretty high end audio products so I wouldnt discount them. I used to work in Strathfield car radios and our manager had 6 JL Audio subs running from a clarion head unit - it kicked the alpine units asses and sounded crystal clear.
If I had the choice I would go for the clarion..
Clarion do make some good products, though I found the VX401A to be a little cheap in finish, for the money though its still a good unit.

I have the VX400A which I can only assume is the model before. It's a good unit. There are a few minor things that I would change i.e When you turn the screen off for night driving and the USB function is playing, when the song changes the screen comes back on...minor things like this. Overall it's a good unit like I said, I'd recommend it. 3 RCA pre-outs, sub control, USB, iPod intergration (if you're into that), DVD, rear camera. What more do you need?
I have the VX401A and had it for about 3 months in my VY. There is problem i have seen with the VX401A and if i did know i may not of got one. What i dont like is when using bluetooth with Iphone you cant change the audio settings. You must stay on the bluetooth screen because as soon as you leave that screen your bluetooth will stop.
Villain,
I it the vx401 in my vy, how did you o with the install? I installed mine and it doesn't fit through the facia, and I can't get it to look neat, just wondering if ya had any tips?
I was thinking if using a dremel tool to cut the cutout in the facia a few mm bigger
Cheers

I had the same issue. I'm usually a perfectionist but it's not that bad...like you said, it's only a few mm
