Hi guys, I'm in the process of upgrading my sound system but I'm keeping the original head unit, too much stuffing around with steering wheel controls and it looks better "un-touched". I dont know anything about electronics or audio systems but I've done a fair bit of research in the last couple of months and came up with this solution - see attachment ( if Iv'e uploaded it right )
I'm going to get an auto sparky to do the power cables and fuses but the rest myself. Still choosing amp and stuff but I think I'm going for Rockford Fosgate amp and speakers.
Let me know what you guys think please
What do you want to achieve from the system?
What is your budget?
Do you really need rear speakers? Rear speakers ruin your front sound stage and unless you have frequent rear passengers they aren't worth it.
Other than that, your wiring seems ok from a brief look.
somthing 2 think about also if u wanna do away with the speaker to RCA convertors u could contact Greg (pheddy from ASR) he can convert ur head unit so it has 2 pairs of RCA's pre outs, aswell as an 3.5mm auxilary socket as an added feature.

Not really using a budget as such but its true what you say about rear speakers though. The problem is that I do have a few passengers on a regular basis. The goal is good bass and good quality sound that will rattle the windows a bit

Your diagram is okay, but from what i can see you only have 1 line out convertor, and a 5 ch amp. You may need to use more line out convertors if you plan on running multiple amps, or if you want to provide extra inputs for a multi channel amp.
Diagram looks ok, however I would use accessory wire rather than ignition wire to turn the amp on. The accessory wire is yellow and is located at the mobile phone plug which is a 4 pin plug in behind the passenger side console panel (Will need to remove glovebox). You can even use a male spade terminal if you really dont want to cut or alter the factory wiring (Providing the plug has not been cut off).
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Simon

In regards to your diagram you also have the main power line connected to the negative terminal, when it should be connected to the positive.
i should have mentioned b4 Gregs conversion also comes with a remote wire so no need 2 hook up 2 the ignition or ACC 2 turn on ur amps.

Having a hard time getting the new speaker wire threaded into the doors, any ideas?
Pull the loom from between the door and the cabin off, thread it through the hole in the cabin, through the loom, then into the door, then put the loom back into the door/cabin. Much easier.
