As long as you neatly hide the wire it will look quite nice. Also if your sub box is ported it will slightly change the port frequency due to the difference in volume, but only just.

Do you need to have a box behind it or can you just cut a hole and screw it in?

Yes the sub does work. Yes you need a box (unless it is a free-air sub). No it is for show and sound as well.

So I need to have a box behind the sub for it to work? You can't just screw it in and wire it up?

oh it will work if you just screw it in and wire it up, but it really wont sound good at all.

You need the box for any sub to sound good, or make any bass

The bloke I bought my ute off had a sub the same size installed in exactly the same spot but around the other way. He cut a farking hole in the backing panel which is structural and highly illegal but covered the sub with a dodgy box covered in checker plate which actually looked all right....

Id remove the sub all together but like I said the previous owner cut a masive whole in it...

I had to get a blue slip just last week in the ute so I knew they would pick up on the sub being the way it was, so I flipped it over like in the above pic and then screwed checker plate over the entire backing panel on the tub side....

To my surprise the sub works better in my opinion and the back of it isn't exposed to the weather, not that ever made a difference anyway... In not doing much today so I might take a video of it...

You can see the enclosure being used along with the other drivers, also you can see wiring from the terminals. If it was only for show why would you run exposed wiring in your cabin?

    This is pathetic lol
    Google it, do some research.
    You need a box.
You need to reverse the polarity.
You need to have some sort of a grasp of what a subwoofer/how a subwoofer works, once again, research it.

    Ps. Go away Nic.
