This isnt exactly car audio lol more like marine audio.
Basically my dad and i bought a malibu boat a year or so ago and it come with 4 speakers in the boat itself and another 4 on the wakeboard tower, however no amp for the ones on the tower so they didnt work, not that that really matter cos the weather had turned the speakers to rat s**t.
We have been looking around for some decent marine rated speakers to replace them for a while but had trouble finding decent black speakers without spending $300 a set on the polk audio set. i mean it is only for the tower haha anyway the other day i found these:
BRAND NEW BOSS AUDIO 200W 6.5" MARINE SPEAKERS BLACK | eBay
im just wondering if these are good enough for the money, like i said we dont need something amazing to blow our ears off, just something to fill the pods without being just cosmetic, a little music whilst i ski/wakeboard would be nice hahaha
thanks all![]()
BOSS are shite, fusion do decent marine speakers. Not sure if in black or just white but a $2 can of paint will fix that.
Cheap, fast, reliable.....you only get to choose two.

My mate had the fusions in his centre console boat and they were loud enough to hear over the motor on plane so that's alright I reckon. I don't rate the fusion stuff normally but you don't have alot of choice with marine stuff and it's not like it's entering sound offs.

boss are the best!
My mate and I fitted out a Malibu for another mate and just used standard speakers (Pioneer top end model coaxials as I get them CHEAP) as the boat was only going to be in fresh water, so no problems with salt or anything. I wouldn't waste my time with Boss speakers.
Just looking at this again.
“Resilient: a speaker forged of both corrosion- and water-resistant plastics.“
To my knowledge all plastic is corrosion- and water-resistant.
Seriously I wouldnt bother with speakers being necessarily listed as “marine”. My brother in law has a Camero Legend with Alpine SPS’s. The only thing I can see about “ marine” speakers being of additional value is if the voice coils are sealed from moisture which these don’t look to be. In any case on a tower that should be an issue in the pods and in the boat you would be in big trouble by the time the speakers were soaked! Lol.
Perhaps the cones are water-resistant, as opposed to paper composite cones used in many speakers?
If you are after Marine gear, I'm fairly sure all of the current Polk gear is 'Marine Certified' - Certainly the MM range is.

Stay away from boss audio if you plan to keep your car long term. Instead of spending $300 on a boss set of speakers/sub/amp - spend the $300 ona good head unit like pioneer and good quality speakers - much better quality sound
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
yeah me and my dad looked into the polk audio mm marine gear and if we had the money for them we'd defs go that way haha, but we cant justify spending $300 bucks on each set of speakers to go in a tower that withstands the full impact of the weather, at the moment we are only after cheapies to put up there but ill look up for a decent set of speakers at decent price reverring to what other posters have said.
the boat itself already has an older model H/U which does the job for us and 4 clarion speakers in the deck, we have a newer model pioneer H/U out of or old boat to replace this one when it does, but at the moment it sounds good enough for us, but like i said ill look into ordinary speakers which have poly or carbon fibre/kevlar cones.
Thanks for all the feedback to![]()
