Default Iphone not detecting Alpine CDE-123E

    Hey Guys
after some advice, I have just purchased and installed a ALPINE CDE-123e along with a genuine alpine KCE-433iV cable for the Iphone.
The problem is that if i plug an OLD ipod into it it works perfectly, but if i put any iphone either running IOS4 or IOS5 the phones dont detect that there is a cable plugged in.
has anyone had this happen? the headunit is SUPPOSED to work fine with iphones.
    advice?
    Cheers

Can't help you with the Alpine but I've used brands that required the phone to be rebooted while plugged into the cable due to Apple's shit firmware updates making their products no longer compatible.

dont know if it will work with your exact model but you can update your head units firmware and that should fix the problem.

Edit: i think that might only be for iDA models

Try turning your phone off and on whilst plugged in, it is also possible that model head unit doesn't detect the newer models, I've got the CDA-117E and that works fine with the iPhone 4 on iOS 5

This is generally the root cause when troubleshooting any Apple Inc. product. You end up here sooner or later.

And yet they make insane amount of money for over-hyped products! There is no logic in this world.
