What subwoofers should I get?

Hi,

My amp is rated for 600rms at 2ohms GM-D8500 Pioneer

I currently have 2 x 12" kicker comps 150rms each wired at 2 ohms in a ported box.

Now, should I get 1 x 12" Inch Rockford Fosgate P3D4-12 Punch P3 4ohm DVC 600rms

or 1 x 15" Hifonics BRZ15D4 Brutus 4ohm DVC 600rms

Which one would be the best for a VY wagon? price doesn't matter

Have you listened to either of those subs before? Seen how they perform? I would get 1 x 12" Image Dynamics IDQ-12 D4 voice coils and put it in a decently sized sealed box and be done with it, outperforms both those subs hugely and will sound better doing it.

I haven't heard either sub. They are both on special on amazon atm. $150 for the fosgate and $100 for the brutus.

Does that include shipping? As you said price doesn't matter I suggested something else; is your budget $150?

Well with with shipping probally looking at $190. My budget is $250 with a box. I'm just after 600rms wired at 2ohm so 1, 2 or 4 subs doesn't matter. The sub you suggested looks pretty awsome btw, but it's out of my price range

I've dont some research and I leaning towards the Brutus. It has more excursion and better efficient then the fosgate. There's no way I'll be able to hear the subs without buying them first.

With subs Is it better to get bigger ones? say a 12" compared to a 15" sub of the same model, If they both had the same specs would the 12" achieve a better spl? I know the 15" can play lower frequencies.

As long as the excursion is the same, more cone area will produce more air movement which means more sound/higher SPL.

I'll go for the Hifonics sub than. $97.48US at the moment, plus post will be no more than $40.

I bought my amp off amazon.com before and didn't encouter a problem, It took roughly 3 weeks to get here from New York. I think only Amazon themselves can ship to Australia as other vendors on Amazon have been unable to (DiscountJungle and all the merchants I have looked at that sell other car audio gear on amazon)

Not sure if I want to make/buy a sealed or ported box. I have had sealed before but only with an old 150rms 10" Pioneer sub.
