Hi all,
So, I'm scared that this is a really dumb question when it comes to wiring up my new sub inside the sealed box. I ended up purchasing a Rockford P2D4-12 sub and installed it yesterday but just want to make sure I'm right here. It is 4ohm DVC so I have wired it up in Parallel to create 2ohm at the amp.
My question is how is the best way to wire it up out of these scenarios or does it not matter.
First scenario:- run positive to first + on the sub then piggyback to the next + terminal of the sub, repeat for - terminals (this is how I have it now).
Second scenario:- run 2 seperate wires from the + terminal board of the sub box to each of the + terminals of the subwoofer, repeat for - terminals...
or does it not matter which way it is done??? Technically this is the same outcome yeah?
Cheers,
Doesn't matter which way it is done, electrically it's the same. I don't usually piggyback as I can't fit two lots of wire into the one terminal.
this is the way i have done mine

Obviously that still works but you have a bunch of unnecessary joins which seem like twist and tape jobs... You're much better soldering the wires and heatshrinking, but tape is fine if done properly. What's with the un-taped connections inside the box though???
they are soldered and of course i taped them up, i took that picture ages ago for a build log

This website I found advises to wire a DVC 4ohm sub to 2ohm like so:

It's all the same shit, that way is just harder because you need to squeeze two wires into the terminals.
buy an amp with 4 terminals instead of 2 lol
