    Default WH Head Unit replacement

Recently purchased a Wh Stato. HU works fine but the cd stacker in the boot has given up the fight. Looking to replace whole system but have a few questions. Can u do this without butchering the woodgrain surround? ie will an aftermarket hu recess far enough in so that the surround will go back on. Search didnt give me any info btw. Double din or single din with pocket it doesnt matter to me nor does retaining the steering wheel controls although that would be nice. am handy with electronics so any tips/ideas etc would be good.

Hey mate, I have a WH Statesman Series 2 as well and I had an aftermarket Alpine IVA-W502EV headunit fitted. The only modification they did was file the woodgrain a tiny bit but you honestly can't even tell, they only filed the 4 corners slightly.

Here is a pic of mine:

    Looks like a good job.

Have a look at the Alpine website.
They have the IVA-520E (which is the successor to the IVA-502) for $999 at the moment which is a huge saving..

Yeah I had mine fitted 07/2010 and paid $1477 just for the headunit, then I got the subwoofer, mono amp, 4 channel amp, 4 speakers, bluetooth, GPS, reverse camera. I even paid the extra $300 to get the steering wheel controls to work with the new headunit.
