Hey Guys, So I'm finally getting some Time off over Xmas, And want to make a start at my Boot install.
Can someone tell me off top of their heads, what Depth MDF I would use inside the bootlid?
I plan to Cut and Shape MDF to Suit the Top of the boot lid with some LED's and Stuff in it.. and Wanted to make sure boot would close Comfortable
For the rest of the boot and Sub box I thought 18mm MDF would be way to go?
I will be posting Start to Finish Pics if anyone would like to see it's Progression)
cheers Guys![]()
12mm minimum for the boot lid dude, 9mm is too flimsy and will split easyer with drilling and screws and cutouts. 18mm would be better but your bootlid would be heavy as #### lol. pics would be sweet
actually he said "and stuff" ... assuming speakers and screens then i wouldnt use less than 12mm. if hes panelling it all off for 2 LEDs then go for your life with 3 mm
18mm for sub box might not be thick enough depending on subs and output mate
Thanks Mate.. ok heres the Sub i'm considering, I have a soundstream Rubicon 1002 Amp to run it..
Sound Master Car Audio - ($389) Soundstream T612 12inch Subwoofer T612
What do you guys think, I figure 1 REALLY Good 12, leaves plenty of boot space for other stuff to be customized as well
Cheers
Brendon
And yeah, was thinking maybe a 24" LED Panel in the boot lid with some 5 1/4" Splits or something with some Gaming console or something anyways, Havent quiet set my mind to the boot install..
draw it up on paint how you want your boot to look :P
the boot liner doesn't need to be "heavy duty" to support an LCD screen, or speakers.
you'll want to keep the boot liner as light as possible if you're adding all that extra weight!
shouldn't be too hard to make a bracket that attaches the LCD screen to the structure in the boot lid.
The other thing I was thinking of was running 2 sony tablets in the back of the front seats some how![]()
Hey Mags,
Yeah Mate, i have 3 Kids, so was thinking I need something in the back there to keep the Kids Entertained if we drive somewhere on holidays or something as well...
I also need to find the right way to turn off my Sub if needed as well..
Yeah Mate all sounds good and heaps of fun.!!
Cheers
Brendon
I have seen some sort of an elastic strap holder that wraps around the seat and holds the tablet to the back of the seat, at least that way you can easily remove them and not modify the trim in anyway.
Is your sub on it's own amp? If it is, you could just put a switch on the remote wire to the sub amp. If it's not on it's own amp, them you could just put a switch on both of the speaker wires to the subwoofer, and turn them both off at once when not using the sub.
Yeah Mate Sub will be on its own amp, and speakers on their own amp as well..)
