im looking at selling my car and getting a SS or something similar, vy model of course
so i am just wondering where is the alternator located? and is it easy to do the big three like on the v6's ?
since its a different engine and looks different, i thought maybe it would be harder to do. i havnt really inpected the v8 ones out, i have only seen them in pictures.
also would it produce more power to the battery? my brother was just saying, its extra 2 cyliners and it would charge faster or something, so idk.
so that is all i was wondering. everything else should be a strait swap. (audio equipment)

it will still produce the same power and wont charge any faster than any normal alternator, if anything it may just have a bigger amp alternator which just means u can put more load on it

lol your brother is an idiot haha, however the ls1 alternator is better than the ecotec units. the alternator on the ls1 is mounted down lower in the engine bay so it will be harder to do the big 3 than it was on the ecotec
The alternators on the opposite side to the battery.
It's a Mitsubishi 140amp alternator from factory. Not sure of the ecotec amperage.
