Default WH/VT triggering factory amp with aftermarket head unit

    Hello all.

I'm in the process of upgrading the factory audio and this is what I've got:
    Alpine Head Unit
Front Doors – 6” Splits (JL Audio + JL Audio Amp in the boot)
Rear Doors – 6” Coaxials (JL Audio running off factory wiring)
Roof – Standard tiny factory speakers
Parcel Shelf – Factory 8” subs
Boot – 12” Sub (JL Audio + JL Audio Amp in the boot).

I have an Aerpro wiring harness to take care of connections for head unit/steering wheel controls etc. However, the instructions state that the Aerpro harness does not provide a trigger for the factory amp.

Can I trigger the factory amp from any of the factory wires at the dash? Alternatively I could tap into the JL Ausio amps trigger wire now in the boot and trigger the factory amp from there?

Feel free to give me your views on whether I should just not run the factory subs if in your respective views the 12” sub will be enough.

    Kind regards,

    SM

The factory sub amp runs off a different circuit to the headunit. When you turn ignition on, it's on. It takes it's signal from the rear speakers. But I wouldn't use the factory 8's, they're rubbish just disconnect them. Of you want to go to the trouble of removing your rear seat and parcel shelf to get them out, by all means do so, but there's really no need to.
