Default Running Type R splits off headunit? stupid??

hey today i bought some 6.5" Alpine type r splits for my front doors although i dont think ill be worrying about an amp or atleast not anytime soon, am i stupid running 110w RMS speakers off the headunit? will this cause any damage or does it just mean im not getting everything i could be out of my speakers, not being on an amp will they still sound better then other speakers like type S or will they be the same unless i amp them? also putting these speakers in the front doors should i disable the rear door Stock speakers or will it sound ok mixing them?
    Cheers

its pointless buying good speakers without amping them IMO... you can pick up a decent 4ch amp fairly cheap that way they will sound better and you can also upgrade the rear speakers off the same amp... its not hard to install an amp even if you want to keep the stock head unit you'll just need a line level convertor.
    If in doubt......FLOOR IT!!!

what kind of amp would i need to handle the 110 rms? can you suggest any from the jb site as they have 30% off all car audio for boxing day i could just put one on lay by if they let u do that on boxing day sales? and do i get a 4 channel or mono amp? i do not know the difference and what each type is for, thanks

not to sure how much you want to spend but i would go with this

alpine 4ch amp - if you want to upgrade the rear speakers aswell

sony 4ch amp - this will do if your on a cheaper budget

    kicker 2ch amp
    - use this if you only want to amp the front speakers

MONO amps are only for subwoofers.
    If in doubt......FLOOR IT!!!

Something like the Jaycar 4X100wrms will be better than anything JB will try and sell you for the same price range.

Jaycar amps are pretty decent. Type R's aren't that dependent on amps.

i could afford that alpine one although it says 75w (RMS) X 4 does this mean i would still not get everything out of my speakers since they are 110 RMS not 75? cheers

in the future i will get some 6x9 splits for the rear shelf so i will need a 4 channel amp right and with good speakers in the rear shelf i can just disable the rear door speakers then? that would be my best option?

as i take it your not building a compatition system it isnt neccessary to run everything at its peak wattage

75w rms will sound a million times better then the factory wattage

The Jaycar are more than capable of running the type R's efficiently. They're rated at 100wrms but they actually produce around 120wrms.

Alpine is one of those companies where they think they can charge more because of the brand.

The sound will still be better going from horrible standard speakers to splits either way but an amp will sound better again.

If your talking about Jaycar in Geelong, thouse clowns have got no idea. Go the digital, it's a much better amp than the AB. Theyre just trying to get rid of old stock.
