I'm building my sound system on roughly about a $1000 budget, not worrying about rear speakers for the moment. Have no experience in sound systems at all so been trying to do my research as best as i can but still unsure on some things.

Just need advice on these things:
1) If there is any better alternatives to either of the parts close to the prices
2) What wiring kit should I buy
3) What would be a good amp for the subwoofer
4) If there is anything else missing on my list or recommended

Which side of Melbourne are you from mate? There are good shops in Melbourne which will offer you better products at better prices.

Being in Melbourne is good, as you have 3 fantastic stores to drop into.

I suggest you head on over to Frankston Car Audio at Unit 3, 397-401 McClelland Drive, Langwarrin VIC 3910, Australia.

Tell them your budget and they should be able to put together a much better list and give you a lot of good advice + deals.

This would be my advice also. By all means, if you would like to DIY install, do it. They will no doubt help you with install pointers also.

I'll be paying for the install (Want a good job done). I just want the parts on a 1k budget the install can come whenever I get the money to pay for it.
Frankston is a bit of a distance but thanks magoo, will go for a visit to the one in werribee and brunswick.
