hey guys just got my vs calais few weeks back it has the original audio system including the stacker but no magazine. I`ve looked around for the the magazine cant find one anywhere so i was thinking of replacing the head unit upgrading speakers (nothing over the top).
but my question is that i would love to keep the steering wheel controls functionable is this possible or am i dreaming?
there are steering wheel interface adapters for this very purpose, that cost between $60 and $200 or so...
some of the cheaper ones are fine, some aren't, but then the same goes for the more expensive units.
so, you're best off to find an experienced installer, who's tried various units before, to see what they recommend.
Thanks for that i wasnt sure if it was even possible are these units brand specific?
nope, universal, generally they'll cover all makes of headunits, and cars..
however, you do need a headunit that accepts a wired remote, some have a 3.5mm headphone type socket at the back for this, others just have extra wire(s) in the loom
BUT, often some will work better in some cars than others, and same for headunits.
so, as I said, you'll really need to find someone with a bit of experience with them.
this is one I just bought for my BA Falcon, with pioneer headunit.
