Im installing a single din and really dont have a clue where the hand brake wire is that i connect the safety wire to? or or there a way i can bypass it? i know its illegal but it would be handy to have on long drives, can anyone help a noob out please
you connect that wire to the Negative. simple
You connect it to the switch on the handbrake.
Is it a tv screen or does it just lock you out of features? If its a tv I'd connect it to the handbrake and just have a hidden bypass switch. That way if you get pulled over its legal.
Its a clarion vrx485vd, and it doesnt work if you just ground it, alot of people say use a switch but where do you put the swich?
If grounding it doesnt work then it must need 12v at it. Please confirm this in the manual first though.
Using a 2 way switch you connect the handbrake wire (from heady) to centre. Then connect wire from the handbrake to one side. And either ground or 12v to the other side. This way by flicking the switch the heady thinks the handbrake is on.
Useless safety features. You could fake that with a switch pretty easy. Tell it that it's gone from open circuit to ground.
Yeah, you need to flick a switch, no more hard wiring to ground with certain brands anymore.
clarions just need to be hard wired to a ground with a switch inline . Flick the switch on then flick it off and back on and it should work. Thats how I wired my clarion dvd screen/head unit up
US spec Pioneer units need a relay fitted now for same reason , the sneaky pricks !
Aus models straight to ground.
