I'm going to change the radio in the Stato and not sure whether to spend big on a decent single din, or look at a cool double din.
I wont be changing speakers or anything, mainly just changing because there's an issue with the original head unit.
You get what you pay for, especially with no-named brands.
Do you have a budget/list of required features?
Something like this is a much safer option. + an Aerpro harness and fascia and you're set.
I agree with MAG00 here.

Thanks guys
I'm looking for pretty much the following specs ...
+ Double Din
+ Touchscreen for the wank factor
+ DVD - extra wank factor
but most importantly
+ bluetooth, as Ive grown accustom to using bluetooth through the standard head unit I just cant go to an aftermarket unit with a speaker
+ Direct Ipod connectivity, or at minimum aux in - I know, pretty standard these days. SD card or the like would be cool to store some music without needing to plug in a device
+ ideally steering wheel interface, like the Clarions/JVC/Aplines that have the 3.5mm socket for a PAC SWI to connect too, although as long as it has an IR remote I can make do as I can get an IR PAC SWI
+ RCA out, once again pretty much standard these days, but its to run the Sub
Looking at around the $400 ish mark, as the steering wheel interface and brackets and plugs and stuff comes to about the $200 on top of it.
For $400? Um I got bad news bud.

thanks guys, after a hell of alot of looking and researching I almost bought a Clarion VZ800 for $250, but by the time I made a decision it was gone.
Not to worry though coz I bought a Kenwood DDX 418BT with the ipod cable included for $360 delivered

The reviews say theres an issue with bluetooth quality, but it seems to depend on a few factors like microphone placement for one and adjusting settings. A few people also report that the person at the other end can hear echo, which is not really an issue as Ive had that since using an iPhone with a Nokia kit anyway.
And for an additional $180 I'm getting everything else, the facia, the steering wheel interface, the wiring harnesses, the Y adapter to connect the antenna and diversity antenna, even the Blaupunkt radio removal keys - so I'm happy!
Laggy software interface, incomplete features... not worth the money!
Wait around for a decent secondhand head unit.

Well, see how you go. You might find that it is actually pretty good, and that we've just been burnt by crappy older units.![]()
