I have two fusion twelves (reactor series) single voice coil, I have them only running off a 760w Pioneer amp and they are absulutly mad!!! Make sure you get there good stuff, they have some crappy El cheapo getting around.
My ride-VS commo, Just finishing the manual conversion. Working out those annoying bits!
Hey Mate, if you want some quality to as well as a Mid Range Sub, Look at Phoenix Golds new Range R3 Series would see you having some Quality as well as some Doof Doof hehe..
Stinger in Australia are the new Dist for them, if you call them you can find out where your local retailer for them are...
I've just gotten 2 12" Ti12D4's and ready to fit them...
Cheers
Brendon
the inbuilt amp is 250watts...
to be honest, I reckon you'd be better off getting something like this amp:
Response Precision 500WRMS Linkable Class D Subwoofer Amplifier - Jaycar Electronics
for $200 (should be able to haggle down to $180)
and.... I can't find any sub(s) for $200 that I'd recommendlol
I got my 12inch Sound-stream SST 12/2's for $100 each from autobarn Penrith. They are 2ohm DVC 300rms (DVC is like having 2 subs in 1 so there will be 2 terminals, 150rms per coil/terminal) I have them wired for 2ohm and they go right off!!.
As for the amp I'd recommend the Option Audio OAK600 which puts out 600rms at 2ohm (around $250 for amp however my friend bargained them down to $190) they are very small aswell so thats a plus with placement options.
You will also need a box. Autobarn have a ported boxs for the 2 subs. I sure its no more then $100
Also I would stay away from Fusion subs unless its their Powerplant series. in which case the Fusion PP-SW120 DVC 4ohm looks good on paper but I have no experience with them.
With the option audio amp (OAK600), 2 x Sound-stream Subs (SST 12/2) and ported box you will be a very happy man and wont have to upgrade until your almost Deaf. I estimate it will cost you at most $590 diy with bad haggling.
Wire the sound-stream DVC subs in to the amp like this. You will end up needing 600rms @ 2ohm to power the subs (the option audio is perfectly matched to these 2 subs)
Oh you defiantly want 4 gauge power/ground wiring all round. Hope this helps. Good luck with your system.
Oh its for a Ute... One of my friends has an amplifier with built in sub and it sounds pretty good. Sound-stream do have a slimline sub range but I have no experience with them.
The built in amps are usually tiny and crap.
The 500wrms jaycar mono would be pretty decent. There's a very good chance you only need one sub. A large amount of what you get out of it comes down to your box.
Do you want to buy new or second hand?
My image dynamics id12 goes pretty well, and they're cheap. Havnt finished the ported box (I've been lazy) so its still in a generic sealed one.
The loudest sub I ever had was an old fusion power plant 12, in a 2.5cuft box running off 500wrms. I would stay away from the new reactor series though.
Thanks for the info guys, an it's not for a ute, the ute in my dp was my old car I've sold it, it's going to be for my hilux, I'm looking at spending no more then about 700 max, i was looking at new, i dont really like buying stuff second hand, cause i dont know how its been use, if i know how its been used i would buy it, the idea that juzzyx said sounds pretty good to me, ill just have to see where im at after rego an other stuff before i go buying my subs, was just curious about what brands were like
Yea with the sub brands I personally think you can't go wrong when you buy brand new Kicker subs. They are a really good brand. I use to have 2 kicker comps (150rms each SVC) and they went off!! But those soundstream SST 12/2's (300rms each DVC) are about 1.75 times louder then the kicker comps.
A smarter upgrade for a ute would be to replace the front speakers and seal + deaden the doors.
did what MAG00 said in my mazda bravo and no joke it sounds like it has a sub, with the stock paper coned speakers and a different head unit, i will record a video for you if you like? its not WOW but it has alot of depth and u can actualy hear the lows, doesnt go overly loud but its perfect for a daily.
What did you end up doing whitesac?
