Hi all
Just picked up my VE ute and I am already thinking about a system on a budget.
I am thinking about a under seat sub as I want to keep the space behind my seats. I am also not after huge bass.
Being on a budget what about something like this?
Pioneer 12" 1200 Watt Sub In Box - Subwoofer - JB Hi-Fi - Smashing Prices!
I think I would rather spend the money in the amp and split areas
thoughts?
From my personal experience with slim subs like that, all they do is shake everything with no sound to go with it, also can you find out the dimension of this? Cos I remember seeing a slim boxed Pioneer sub in my local autobarn but it was about a metre long
If your after a bit more bottom end in your sound system you might be better off upgrading speakers and amping them, the amp can hide under the seat and you will still have all the space behind your seats

That is a great review for affordable splits
I myself have the morel maximo 6 and I found they sounded really bassy, I had friends asking if I had a sub in my ute when I had just them of a jaycar amp
If you are keen on spending more, as you haven't mentioned a specific budget yet, there is another review for under $600 splits on the same site
Once you have a look through the speakers let us know and we will work out an amp to suit
Yeah that's the one I was thinking of, have you heard one in action wraith to confirm it does have deep bass?
I've listened to a fusion shallow sub in a box and at $400 it was crap, however when my mate bought it for his hilux it was all that would fit without sacrificing passenger foot space

ok thanks, i had a mate who was thinking of it for his vs ute, to mount on the the wall behind the seats, now that i know that he might be interested in it
yeah fusion, i used to think they were the best, but i was 16 and had no real idea in car audio aswell
to the OP, you may find the slimline sub wraith posted to work in your favour, perhaps mounting on the back wall in your cab? if its ideal? could also keep the majority of space back there, that is if you dont feel you have enough low end with a new set of splits
Why not go a full size sub nehind the seat? Plenty of room behind the drivers seat, and depending how you do it you wont loose much seat travel either...
