    Default Deciding on Head Units.

Well I'm fairly sure I've short listed head unit choice down to the following:

    http://www.pioneer.com.au/car_entert...0mp/index.html
    [DEH-P7750MP]

    http://panasonic.com.au/products/det...productID=4058
    [CQ-C8401]

What I'm after is well.. a comparison. Anyone have experience with either of these head-units that can offer some advice? I'm leaning towards the panasonic based on looks, as functionality seems fairly similar. I'm after something with a blue display, that's pretty much the reason these 2 are up for contention. I'm not sure of the price of the pioneer though, so if anyone can tell me a rough figure I'd appreciate it. Also looking for an installer around west melbourne if anyone knows of a decent place. Cheers guys (and girls - I won't be sexist )

Edit: Also, what is the difference between 6" Coax, and 6" splits. Do both reproduce the same sound?

I’m a fan of pioneer head units, so I’m goin to say go with the pioneer head unit. Most of my friends have had pioneer head units and have never had any problems with them.

One thing that is suspect in the specs listed for the Panasonic head unit is they claim that it’s maximum power output (in RMS) is 4x50W. that’s gotta be wrong. That would be the peak power output, the RMS would be between 15 and 18W.

Splits are two separate speakers, a woofer (6”) and a tweeter (about 1”), coax speakers have a woofer (6”) and a tweeter except the tweeter is mounted as a part of the 6” woofer. (not to be confused with dual cones). The tweeter sort of sticks through the middle of the woofer.

The Pioneer deck is prob the go, but i do not have any experience with Panasonic Decks so yeah. But i Have a jvc deck in my Vk and the was well worth the money witch was way cheaper than the pioneer range. And it sounds shit loads better than the pioneer deck that i had in it before. Click the link below to check out my JVC i paid $329 from JB- Hifi

It's looking like my sisters bf's friend is selling his new pioneer deck for 400 (bought at 800) so if I can get my hands on that I'll snatch it up. If not, I think I'm gonna go for the pioneer. Although the panasonic is STILL naggin at my side. Both good HU's by the look of it.

Yeah, don't buy a Commodore either because you'll be a sheep. What a stupid thing to say.

People buy Pioneer because it's a good product and has a good reputation, unlike Panasonic with car audio.
