hi,
ok i will have my naka sps6500 splits soon and pretty much i need some advice on them and their related technologies. so ray, cam, semi? and kal spl (not that you are there) these are my questions:
what exactly are the advantages of bi amping splits? (read: how exactly does keeping specifically dedicated amps for certain sound ranges affect SQ?)
what would a safe power for my naka splits be? the woofers are about 70wrms and there is no rating for the tweeters. i am sure the woofers would cope with a lot more than 70wrms...... i want to avoid at all costs giving them any destructive distrosion at all.
can you think of anything else i should consider when installing these?
cheers, garth.
normal two way splits have no real advantages when you bi-amp then.
The main reason for bi-amping is how much more efficent an amplifier becomes when it is dedicated to a narrow bandwidth. Tweeters require very VERY little power to run...
e.g. If you are pumping 70wrms into your woofers...the tweeters are getting maybe...2-3 wrms.
Bi-amping becomes effective when you have like what was in my Dodge. a 7" woofer, a 4" woofer and then a tweeter. I had an amp dedicated to the 7" and then another amp dedicated to the 4" and the tweeter (in reality I was using a 4channel just getting different signals.
The signal path was like this...
600Hz upwards went to channels 1+2 which went to a crossover to power the 4" and the tweeter
200-600Hz went to channels 3+4 to power the 7"woofers
the rest went to another external crossover to supply the amps designated for the 10" woofers and the 18" sub.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
that sounds awesome 12V. if im ever in the states i will drop by for a listen.![]()
too late...the Dodge got totalled by a snow plow in December.

why didnt you have an active cross over to split the signal to the respective amps?
LOL....
I did...I just didn't mention it.600Hz upwards went to channels 1+2 which went to a crossover to power the 4" and the tweeter
200-600Hz went to channels 3+4 to power the 7"woofers
the rest went to another external crossover to supply the amps designated for the 10" woofers and the 18" sub.
I actually used two pro audio 4way crossovers

lol!
