Post 6x9's in parcel tray of VZ

Okay, so i've attempted to install 6x9's in my vz sv6... it all went pretty good... untill i tried to cut out the holes in board of the parcel tray to install the grilles! :b: i did the most terrible job... one of the grilles sits in okay.. but the other one i think i cut the hole slightly too big and it is just totally crap. im so dissapointed! did any of the vt-vz models come out with a parcel tray moulded board that has grilles built in? if so id love to hear about it... and where can i get one!???!?!?!

Yes, as far as I know the Calais parcel shelf trim should have the grilles fitted. The Calais has the speakers there out of the factory, so....

if all else fails, glue some tabs onto the speakers grille and then glue the tabs on underneath the parcel shelf.

I've done that for a few people who have stuffed up their own install.

Random curiosity, does the sv6 have wiring through to the parcel tray or do you have to splice off rear door speakers? in which case whats the best way to go about it?

Unfortunately no it doesn't have the wiring in place. The best bet is to run some cable from the rear door speaker wiring behind the B pillar trims. (can't remember the colours, sorry!)

Bear in mind that you'll have to disconnect the back door speakers though, 'coz otherwise you'll have too much load on the HU outputs - they can only run 4 ohm minimum impedance. If you hook up both the parcel shelf 6x9s and the door speakers, you'll be presenting a 2 ohm load, and the output chips won't handle it.

    Cheerz!

or run an amp for the 6x9s they would sound alot better off an amp than the headunit. and just tune your rear door speakers to just be fill sound..
