sony subs

ive recently had 2 15"sony xplod subs professionaly insatlled in my vt, there runnin off a 1800watt kenwood amp....... they dont really sound the greatest tho, they sound like there just really stiff and got no flex in em at all really.... they sound nice down low but once i give them a bit of a boot they dont sound the greatest..
this is only the second day they've been in there and there brand new, r they gonna loosen up and give an oright sound after a week or 2 or are sony subs just shit?

my guess is that there just sh!t,
"you get what you pay for" should of gotten a Fusion, Lightning Audio, or upper class pioneer in my opinion. but maybe you could tune yer amp better to get better performance from them?

They won't really change how they sound at all. Sony aren't all that good for subs. How do you mean they sound "stiff" and have "no flex"?

If they sound smooth down low and moderate volumes and then start to sound harsh when they're up loud, the harshness is distortion... It could be the amp clipping or the speaker reaching it's mechanical limits.

i have 2 12'' sony subs and there fine but they are 2 year old and there running off a blaupunkt amp. Sony aint shit there just not as good as fusion.

I wouldn't say Fusion are good though... Powerplant and Lomu stuff is better than Sony, but i'd definitely never buy Fusion when there are so many good brands out there.

yeh sony wasnt exactly my 1st choice but i got them both in a box for 400.
so yeh i guess i pretty much did get what i paid 4 lol... wot i ment by them sounding stiff is, they dont have much movement in them like there just really tight and not vibrating much...
if that makes anymore sense?

Is it a ported box, or is it sealed? If it's sealed that might be explaining part of it.

Well...if the sealed box is too small for the subs, then that would be stopping them from moving too far, because of the pressure they are working against. So they could be tight because of that.

What do the experts think?

I think you will find that it’s the subs that are the problem. What is the volume of your box and what does sony recommend?

I don’t think the issue is that it is in a sealed box instead of a ported box.

EDIT – if the were professionally installed the box volume should be about right.

A sealed box smaller than recommended will limit the output, especially the low frequency output.

im not sure on the volume of the box....i bought the 15s from a different shop than the one i got it installed at.... i had a play around with the amp and the equalizer today got it soundin a fair bit better...
