Hey everybody,
I'm about to put a set of 6x9's into my VS commodore and am trying to decide whether i want to go fusion or pioneer. I'm specifically looking at the Pioneer TS-A6991S 480 watt 5 way 6x9's and the Fusion FES-693 300 watt 3 ways 6x9's.
The pioneer ones can be found here:
http://www.pioneer.com.au/car_entert...91s/index.html
and the fusion ones here:
http://www.fusioncaraudio.com/produc...&product_id=55
Can anyone who's had any experience with either of these two models give me some feedback so i can decide what exactly i want to go for considering i can pick up either set for around the same price of $140-$150.
P.S. on an off chance anyone has a set of the fusion FJL-692 that wants to sell them, new or used gimme a buzz too as i might be interested
your putting in a sub so forget the 6x9s and go for the 6"s better sound quality, easier to install.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
i reackon go the pioneer but if you go 6x9s you need a spacer im pretty sure. heard alot of neg feedback about fushion 6x9s!!!!
Adam, I'm sure that after 7 months he has worked out which speakers to go for. Please try to be aware of the age of the post that you are responding. In a situation like this then there really isn't a need for it unless you have another question pertaining to the topic.

yup, pair of 6"s have been sitting on the parcel shelf for a number of months now![]()
and how good are they? because im thinking of going 6x9's and in like 6 months im putting an amp and sub in.... but i got told to just get 6"s because 6x9's will b an over kill when i get the sub, but between that period i want some bass...... what should i do? because i was thinking 6x9's so i have bass and then later on when i get the sub take away some power from the back speakers(set it more towards the fronts) so there not putting out as much and wont b so much bass.... will it work? or do u's suggest just 6"s?
If you plan to upgrade to a sub i'd recommend you just get 6"s. 6 x 9's are designed to produce SOME of the lower frequencies that 6"s generally won't produce. However, the downside is that the sound quality from 6 x 9's isn't as good as 6"s (i believe one of the reasons is to do with the shape of 6 x 9's being an oval instead of a perfect circle and the way in which this reproduces different frequencies). Once you get a sub, having 6 x 9's will render themselves useless because your sub will be taking care of the lower frequencies a pair of 6 x 9's were handling, plus frequencies even lower than that.Originally Posted by padrickz88
You'll still get midbass out of a pair of 6"s, it just won't be that right down low bass that a sub produces. So if it was me then yeah, i'd be sticking with a pair of 6"s and just add the sub later on.
thanks brycestro, i'll just get 6"s now then.. might aswell haha.....![]()
Also remember as far as sound quality goes your rears are nowhere near as important as your front stage. So definitely spend more on a pair of splits or the likes for the front than what you spend on rear speakers. for best sound quality the rears will be faded out to simply give some "fill", or don't even bother with rear speakers at all and with a nice front stage it will sound very nice![]()
