Default New Wires For CD Player

hey all again, you have prob seen a my last thread about the ohms of a 2ch amp that i will be installing into a mates Holden Torana. I have been told that there was not a radio in the car when he bought it (second hand) and he cant find any electrical wires for a radio. So were thinking that it either has been properly removed because there is a gap in the dash (thinner than D.I.N) or its never had one before. He has a cd player but its going to be mounted prob under the glove box but im goin to have to run a new wire for the HU from the battery and fuse it but where is the best place to tap into for a new accessories wire? and should I fuse the accessories wire too? thanx...

It's safest to fuse any new power wires you run.

I'd take accessories from the ignition... Or use a relay from the ignition.

I don't know about the coil. Use a multimeter or test light to test what wires in the ignition have power when the car is on accessories but not when it's off.

i got the subs and amp in 2day, but there is one small problem... when the turn on wire is activated, the amp doesnt turn on sometimes. it just switches from "Protection" to "On" for about a second then turns back to "Protection" and keeps repeating. even when i unplug the RCA's and speaker wire it still does it. but all of a sudden it worked for about an hour with the amp at its max (not constantly) so its grounded properly. could this have something to do with the power cable? i also noticed when it did work it switched from "Protection" to "On" a few times before actually working. anyone got any idea why? and its not the turn on wire or HU caus i also ran a wire from +12v on the amp to REM (remote) on the amp and it still played up. i have a slight feeling that the amp has shit itself. :b:

dont worry about it. the Protection Light was constantly on 2day and we noticed the carpet where it was mounted was damp. and saw that its got open grilles on the bottom so we left the amp out in the sun for a while and now it works perfectly we now mounted it on-top of a sheet of wood
