Hi guys and girls. Just a quick question. Has anyone out there bought MB Quart premium 6.5" splits.
Im thinking about buying some and just want to hear some peoples views on them.
I haven't heard them so I can't comment, but from what others say about them, there is better out there for the price... What price range are those?
What music do you listen to?
MB Quart are known for "bright" treble, which alot of people don't like. I know i'd prefer stronger midbass "thump" than treble.
there good for their price here in the US but I don't remember how much they are in OZ. Judging by the usual price differences. They won't be the best bang for your buck. I'd have a listen to some other brands for around the same price.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
Nice speakers, well respected. Listened to some mid range ones (about $400 from memory), personally prefered other brands though. Very personal thing speaker selection.
There are some amazing speakers out there in this price range. Other brands you may want to listen to: Focal, Boston Acoustics, Morel, Rainbow, Dynaudio, Phass, Eton,...etc.
In the end, you have to listen to speakers, as even at the top end you will like some more than others. Make sure you listen to them with your music.

I've got the DSE 216's in my VR, with the tweets mounted in the stock locations and set at -6dB. Personally, I'm quite happy with them and don't find them overly bright. The mid range is very strong and they do play quite loud.
By all accounts the MBQ speakers have a fairly similar sound throughout their range, so I would think that premium series is just a little classier. I would say definitely give them a listen and see if you like their sound.
Are you planning to buy them off eBay?
Attentuating by 6dB is likely to fix the brightness, most crossovers from other brands don't even attenuate that much, so I guess MB Q know they can be too bright![]()
Yeah be very careful of ebay sellers. Especially from malaysia/thailand. There have been lots of fakes!!:b:Originally Posted by Jeff T

For the record pce-216 splits retail for AU$799, can be had for around $750. http://www.doranproaudio.com.au/prod...asp?prodID=809
The ones on ebay for $200 odd are very suss!

Yup, used to have the tweets mounted in the kick panels with no attenuation, but when I moved them up under the windshield I had to calm them down a bit.
There is a Malaysian seller on Ebay flogging the premiums for $220. I agree that this price is too good to be true and the speakers are quite possibly some of the many fakes that are floating around.
do not buy off ebay unless they are guaranteed to be brand new and genuine, not refurbished, which the cheap ones are. they are fake, or serviced stock being sold for cheap. like has been said, if the price is too good to be true, it probably is. buy locally, be assured the product is real, and you will have backup form the company you bought them from.
